Batting average is meaningless ... it helps to walk and have extra bases. Yes, I am a Jeter detractor and only because he gets away getting no heat but everybody loves to blame A-Rod. Jeter's lifetime OPS which accounts walks and extra bases is .846 this year he has an OPS of .788. CLEARLY, under performing.

GreenBeret7 : you're love affair with cano is amazing.

thank god most people like the fans, coaches and writers disagree with you.you do not allow lackluster play from cano because of what the rest of the team does.how will cano ever get better if he is not diciplined? he had his best season when bowa was riding the crap out of him all year,he said so himself that he misses him.

GreenBeret7, please stop apologizing for Cano's awful season. You shameless, pathetic homer.

I missed Cano's post-game interview.

All year long, I was impressed with Cano's willingness to take part in post-game interviews in spite of the fact that he is still learning English. He has no interpreter. To think that Kim Jones or anyone else would try to exploit another person's weakness (in this case, the inability to discern nuances in the English language) is reprehensible.

I have seen interviewers over the years try to get players to say what they want them to say. At least if the player is English speaking, there is a fair chance the player can negotiate the interview, but even then, they can fall into semantic traps.

And people wonder why Matsui continues to use an interpreter!

Cano is one of the players that has a tendency to take his hitting problems into the field and his fielding issues to the plate and has yet to separate the two. Some players never do. Mickey Mantle was one of those types.

You're absolutely right, Cano is a really smart guy. That's the ticket.
