I like Cano..and I wouldn't trade him. If he didn't have that horrible start to the season..and his stats looked different we wouldn't be having this conversation. He is very talented and has so much potential. It's not like he is hitting .200. He set a huge hole for himself..and its hard to dig yourself out once his average got so low. I am not happy with his performance of late, and it's about time they did something about it. Trust me..if he got traded...and he turned into a superstar..it will drive you crazy.

Robbie has 30 million cushions to soften this latest blow. Still there's no choice but to keep him, given that there are so many more pressing holes to fill, as well as the fact that his value has plummeted.

I've watched Jeter from the onset of his career and I can honestly say that I have NEVER seen Jeter do anything but give 110% To say he ever "dogged it" is the silliest statement I have ever read. Maybe there were times he should have sat out due to injuries but even then he always gave his all. Whether you like him or not I don't think anyone could ever say he wasn't the ultimate team player. It's been team first for Jeter his whole career by trying to give the best of himself at all times so please think before you type next time.

Cano isn't going anywhere...yet. I see a coaching staff shakeup coming this off-season, and wouldn't be suprised to see some coaches come up through the organization to work with the young players.

Yogi Berra as a young player once got brutally chastised by the vet Yankee players because he didn't hustle in some situation or other. imagine if they had dumped Yogi around 1947-8 'cuz of that!

it would be insane to sell low on Cano.

Go Getter-
It'll take a little more than Cano to get Billingley, but he'd be worth it. Could sign a FA 2nd baseman for a year[Eckersley?] until the FA's available in 2010 become available-Roberts, Polanco, DeRosa.

The real key this offseason will be to sign two quality FA starters, so we can trade some of our pitching prospects for young athletic position players.
