Finally! Humberto gets his shot. I hope he does well. All of his injuries really set him back..its about time.

Both Curtis and Chris Malec from this year's Trenton team are cancer survivors.

It DID get a little play in the NJ press. This is the only website I could find that still had the story. Go to the 9th post down.

http://ftp.mvpmods.com/Forums/viewtopic/p=522523.html

Malec is a pretty amazing story too...he's overcome a lot of adversity, (both personal and professional). He started this season as a bench player for Trenton and wound up making the EL All Star Team and batting cleanup in the playoffs.

The manager didn't make a huge difference this year. The Yanks would have missed the playoffs with this collection of players and injuries and farm system, regardless of the manager.

It's a good thing Griffey didn't make the all-star team this year.

Mel, I resent that "dirty old man" remark. I showered just last week and didn't even need it.

I agree that Cano's play today had to be addressed, but, I also think his fielding and hitting has become a vicious circle, where one affects the other. It's just false that he's lazy and doesn't care.

I felt that Girardi was the wrong person for this team from the start. He's still too close to being one of the players. If Torre had to go, Bowa was the ideal choice, but, he said a couple of weeks ago that he didn't want to manage. He preferred to coach because it was easier to teach andinstruct...that it gave him more time for that. I also think that Eiland wa the wrong choice to be the pitching coach. He didn't really teach the pitchers anything. They were taught by Gil Patterson and Nardi Contreras. Losing Patterson will hurt. I think that Rick Peterson would be a better choice. He may be too radical for the older pitchers and managers, though. Trenton's Scott Aldred might be the best of the young pitching coaches.

Jackson is the real deal in all phases of the game. Gardner could be a gold glover, but, unless he starts bunting for hits once or twice a game, he'll never make it. In Tampa, he had a nice, quick swing and apparently in Scranton, too. Now, it's like he's afraid to swing the bat and is hoping for a walk. Not so sure that Curtis is going to be more than a #4 type, but, for now, my preference is Justin Christian in center field.

PA, nobody called you names, and I only made the one remark about Jones' looks. The fact that she asks immature, ignorant question to try and provoke a controversy for the sake of a story is fact. It's obvious to all that she only asks those sorts of questions to the players who don't completely understand the questions.

The remark I made earlier is rather tame to many that get made, and, I don't attack anybody, except trolls, who really aren't people.

I may be somewhat "caustic" at times and I may be a horse's behind at times, but, unlike most on here, I admit it. I've never been one to curb my feelings about something just because it's politically correct. I don't swear and I'm not vulgar, nor, do I make sexist or racist remarks. I don't talk or get involved in politics and religion.

My attitude towards the media is no secret. I've had to deal with them for over 30 years because of my profession and I and a lot of people that worked for me got burned by false reports, twisted facts and outright lies.

I'm here because this is a decent board, regardless of the rampant trolling that's allowed. I'm not happy with a lot of the things that get said to the women posters that offer a lot of insight or those trying to learn baseball. They're generally more polite (with a couple of exceptions) and more intelligent than a lot of the guys.

But, in the end, it's not my board.

The End.

Ah, that explains it. You're a dirty old man. Just kidding.

Too bad the team couldn't play like this 2 weeks ago. Would've been a lot easier on us!

I think now that Girardi's started down the slippery slope, we'll see a lot more of the fiesty, assertive Girardi we thought we'd see.

Really, what he's doing to Cano is seeing how he reacts. Better to find out now than in the spring.

He's using the "look-see" argument to justify certain moves, but I think he enjoys working with a younger team (don't we all!). But part of me thinks the lineup change in the second game Saturday energized the team a little. The new guys wanted to prove themselves and the vets didn't want to be the ones sitting on the bench next.

I know this is retarded, but with the right pitching staff, you could go younger and better defensively. I've longed for an OF who would lay out for those fly balls for so long. Seeing what Brett did today and hearing about Jackson's exploits really points out how much we lack in athleticism.

Guys:

Why is it too much to ask you not to personally attack people? Can anybody explain that?

This is a forum to discuss baseball, not to make sexist remarks about Kim Jones, not to make crude sexual references, not to compare people to a disease, etc. Why so much bitterness and hatred? It's kind of sad.

If you have a problem with something I write about the Yankees, send me an e-mail. I answer every e-mail I get. Complaining about it here and calling me names is immature and rather boring for the other readers.

My goal here is to provide you with as much information as I can about the Yankees. Railing on about some made-up comments from Bob Ryan or making cracks about sex adds nothing to the conversation. I get complaints about the same group of posters. It's sad that I've had fathers say they don't let their teenage children read the comments here because of the things people write.

Just keep it clean and don't attack people, that's really all I ask. That should not be so hard.
