They should also consider that he was remarkably consistent, winning 11 + games for 17 consecutive seasons. He has 2800 strikeouts and he's 114 games under the .500 mark. All that plus five Gold Gloves should earn him serious considration, but I suspect he won't make it to Cooperstown. I hope he retires on a high note. His biggest selling point will be that he pitched his entire career in the AL East which was the toughest division to pitch in of his time. Few pitchers of this era can say the same given the way free agency works. The voting writers would certainly take that in full consideration.
