    Whoo hoo Phillies

  2. Fran

3 West Coast trips. The last one is the last road trip of the season – late September. At least an off day precedes and follows it.

  3. TKinDC

If the Phillies are coming – can we abduct Ryan Howard? :)

  4. Stephen

Is this the earliest it’s ever been available? It always seems like the Yanks are the last team in baseball to publish their schedule.

  5. EV

Am I the only one who sees a completely blank schedule for September?

  6. JohnM

Prior to the last 10 years Yankees always gave you a copy of next season’s preliminary schedule when you exited the Stadium on the final home game.

Nice …. out in in Anaheim right befor All Star Break. Might be able to catch a game when it’s NOT 120 degrees.

    ;-)

And we close on the road again!! And what is with all the two game series?

  9. jennifer

Time to book hotel rooms!!!

Playoffs or not, we will play in October ;)
the final series is on the road @ Rays

  12. Matt

Wow, the Yankees never release their schedule on their website this early. Generally its not posted till at least January.

  13. Gloria

So next year is the year we close the season at home??? Bud Selig and his brain trust couldn’t make that happen during this historic year??

The closer we get to the Stadium closing, the more I think this whole thing was a mistake. Check out a quote from Larry Brooks in today’s Post about the Stadium: “…the Yankees move across the street from the House that Ruth Built to the Palace Built for George Steinbrenner…” Can anyone say “vanity project?”

  14. Russ

“We close @ Home vs KC”

Nope, there is a series in October. It will be a late start to the season in 2009 because the first Monday in April is April 6th…

  15. CK in LA

Which new stadium ISN’T a vanity project? Time to modernize, I guess.

There’s a sedness to the Old Stadium closing but I’m not quite sure if it’s nostalgia for the Stadium or acceptance of getting old.

  16. CK in LA

Oops, my bad. Didn’t even think of looking @ October. (Hmmm, wonder why ;-) )

So we open & close on the road. That blows.

  17. mark

last year the schedule was not released until january

  18. Guy Incognito

    Thanks Pete.

Nice to see this. I have the Friday plan at the Stadium and this year I was sick and tired of seeing Seattle (twice) and Kansas City (twice.)

Next season, seems like there’s only one repeat and that’s the Red Sox (twice).

  19. On the Road

I thought there was an understanding in baseball that you dont begin AND end the season on the road. No?

  20. On the Road

After the season-opening series against the Rays, the Sox head to California for three-game sets with the Los Angeles Angels and Oakland A’s.

The Red Sox will end the regular season with a seven-game homestand, beginning with three games with the Jays (Sept. 28-30) and concluding with four games versus the Indians (Oct. 1-4).

    _____

So let me understand this. Yankees start and end the season on the road, and boston starts and ends the season at home?

    Is this a joke?

  21. SI

Why do the Yankees never seem the play the Dodgers in interleague play? I think they’ve only played them maybe twice in 12 years of interleague play.

I don’t recall the Dodgers EVER coming to the stadium. How is this possible?

Guess we aren’t going to see Torre one last time in the Bronx.

  22. Flaz

Why is the season starting a week late?

  23. Kill-Schill(ing)

GOD DAMNIT, WHY DO THE YANKEES GET TWO TRIPS TO ANAHEIM AGAIN??

AND TWO WEST COAST ROAD TRIPS IN ONE MONTH AT SEASON’S END?

ONCE AGAIN, THE YANKEES HAVE TO FLY OUT WEST in AUGUST and again in SEPTEMBER?

AND ONCE AGAIN, THE YANKEES HAVE TO PLAY ANAHEIM 10 TIMES. 6 ON THE ROAD; 4 AT HOME.

  24. On the Road

Does anyone else get the feeling they sit down and figure out ways to f- the yankees every year?

  25. saucY

maybe MLB is getting wise to not playing in the colder cities in early April or late Sept/Oct!?!

  26. JJNJ

Looking forward to seeing the Phillies. And it’s about time we got 2 Boston series on the weekend in NY!

  27. jennifer- I got your back Girardi

on the road, you aren’t the only one!!!

  28. BA

How about the preseason schedule ?
