"It’s stunning to me how many close personal friends of CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett and Mark Teixiera post on this blog."

Yeah, and 86w183 is close personal friends with Hank and Hal Steinbrenner. You know as much about this as the rest of us so shove it up your ass.

I don't think it's too much of a stretch to see that the Yankees have been burned with recent free agent signings, and will be very very cautious about who they spend their money for, and how much they're willing to spend.

Oh, and one other thing, SABATHIA IS NOT COMING TO NEW YORK TO PLAY FOR THE YANKEES! GET OVER IT! If he comes to New York, it will be to play in the NL for the Mets. You think he wants to come back here and pitch to the DH, and all the boppers that are here in the AL? You need a good psychiatrist.

Go Moose, truly a pitchers pitcher. The King of reinvention. If he wants I give him a shot next year. He could pitch this way for another 3 or more years. Smart dude that Mussina.

Some of you act like Pavano is a typical FA experience for the Yankees. He's not at all. The idea that the Yankees wont be players in the FA market this offseason is completely uninformed. Whether they are successful, no one other than Pepitone knows.

The decisions on Pettite and Mussina will determine whether the Yankees pursue one or two FA starting pitchers. I'd say with what is happening to the Brewers right now the Yankees greatgest selling point for CC is the bullpen.

Pep, you don't get it.

I'll have C.C. Sabathia narrate:

I'm the biggest free-agent on the market next season. The team that desperately needs an Ace in the rotation just so happens to have the highest payroll. I think I'll just put it out there that I want to play in the National League, all the way on the West Coast. Which just so happens to describe the exact opposite of where the Yankees are and what division they happen to be in.

I couldn't possibly be saying these things to place my self in a position of power in any future negotiations during the off-season. Hmmmm... nope. Couldn't be.

speaking of risking a shot, I would go after Rocco Baldelli as the 4th outsider or to replace Matsui as the DH if his knees doesn't hold up.

Pepitone,

AJ will be worth the risk. Watch, he'll become your favorite Yankee!

And there will never, ever be another Carl Pavano. Impossible. Lowest denominator. Negative.

Mel,

I agree, Burnett's more likely to come here, but I don't like the injury factor. The Yanks got burned bad with Pavano, I'm not sure they want to take another chance on an injury plagued arm.

The Yankee brass are going to have to get off their ass and do their jobs this offseason. Trades that address their weaknesses are a better avenue than free agency, but that means they're going to have to do a little homework, something they haven't been good at lately.
