Simply breathtaking. Truly a fitting end to a wonderful chapter in baseball history.

I’m responding to some stuff from other threads here:

I don’t know when they showed the Yogi commercial on TV, but they played it at the Stadium right before the game started and after the ceremonial stuff. It gave me goose bumps.

Someone asked who pulled the lever–Michael Kay pulled it and it went to “Forever” instead of “0″ and he said something about things not being over. Do the “Forever” thing. That’s fine. But have someone fancy pull it to bring it to Forever. I believe there were quite a few people booing.

    And you forgot one:

last curtain call: Derek Jeter (unless you consider that entire thing at the end a curtain call)

Gonna have to bookmark this one. Trivia fodder.

    Amazing evening. night all.

  4. Alex Berkowitz

I think it’s worth noting that the last Yankee to ever step foot in the batter’s box is, fittingly, Derek Jeter

  5. retire #51

    retire # 51 along with 2 and 42

The last RBI, by Robinson Cano, came on a sac fly, not a single (7th inning, scoring Gardner).
