i'm surrounded by red sox fans here on cape cod so when you factor that i'm keeping my cool fairly well well this yankee collapse.

ironically, it's some yankee fans that make me count to ten.

i think sj has the best take on the whole thing. he says yes to cashman , but with the caveat that he needs help. he understands development because he's been around it with his minor league involvement. and he understands that the free agent market and trades are going to have to be part of the picture.

there's what i think should happen , and what i think will happen.
i'm hoping for an asymmetrical balance between the steinbrenners, cashman, the coaches and players that somehow brings out the best in everyone because there is no way that this mix is going to be a classic model of an organization.

i'm hoping for a lot of fighting and passion, but in the end a dysfunctional balance and edge that brings # 27.

I wasn't for signing both Moose and Andy a month or so ago, only Moose (and only for 1 year). I think now maybe I would consider bringing Andy back for 1 year, but his shoulder scares me.........and so does his 2nd half. It was brutal. Tex? I'm not giving him 10 years. I don't have a set # of years I'd be willing to offer, but it's not 10 - that's ridiculous. I have a feeling he's not going to want to come to NY anyway.

SJ44, I'd also like to ask you this: what are you looking for out of Phil tonight? Do you want to see him use his curve more? His change? Obviously FB command is #1.......

yeah, but i have pretty good control so it wasn’t that dangerous to go up and in there.

on the other hand, i’m definitely a little edgy so i should watch myself.

i’m not appealing the warning."

The pitch didn't have enough hop on it to move me off the plate.

I love this cutter for Phil........and of course, I love his attitude. As disappointed as I am for the team that he wasn't able to contribute, I'm equally as disappointed for Phil. He's a hard worker and a very good kid - and as we saw in the ALDS against the Indians, he's got the right stuff to succeed big time in NY, which not everyone has.

I agree with you completely, Mel. The Yankees love Phil and that's why they are sending him to the AFL and that's why they aren't guaranteeing him anything. They know he will earn his pinstripes one day, but he's got things to work on that he should have been doing last year in AAA. He was a victim of the horrendous injuries to the Yankees' starting rotation last year. SJ, I don't know if Phil needs the whole year in AAA, but you're right - he's not a finished product, and how could he be? Phil dominated every single level he was ever at - he never even faced a bases loaded situation in the minors. LOL that's unbelievable. He's 22 - he's 22 - he's 22. I have to keep repeating that for people want think he's a has-been/never was. Seriously, if this is how Yankee fans treat their young guys, booing them off the field and trashing them for being imperfect.....it's scary.

Pettitte is probably the only veteran pitcher who would agree to a one-year deal with the Yankees and could likely give us a league-average season. That's why the team will try to bring him back.

you gotta have faith

If this site was around when Mickey Mantle played, people would have complained that he partied too much, wasn't clutch all the time and hurt the team trying to play through injuries. Isn't technology grand

G Love -- I concur with all of your points in the lengthy post above (however, I've seen enough of Cashman already).
