dennis it's tough to know what to say about it. I understand his points though about Joe looking like a hero out there when the Yankees have more wins and won't be in the postseason.

I also absolutely agree with his point about the team that wins the world series oftentimes being nothing more than the team of the group that got hot at the right time.
But I guess I have to stop at his saying that no team in the NL west should be in the playoffs because teams in the NL west is a weak division.

dennis, I hate to say it but I was reading the article and was immediately riveted by the following:

Big Apple astrologers: New Yankee Stadium aligned for greatness

YAHOO!!!

Now I'll go back and read the rest.

I don't think I've ever accused you of impersonating anyone nor do I think you would do that since there are certainly no strings on your tongue so I don't feel you would need to pretend you were someone else to speak your mind.

If I ever did accuse you of impersonating someone, I certainly do not remember doing so. And I apologize if I jumped to thinking you were setting me up. I guess I was just tired for tonight of having people come at me from all directions.

I sincerely do think players who are hurt should shut themselves down. Selfishly I want them to do it for the good of the team. I'm not quite as worried about what they are doing to themselves.

I did actually want an answer.

Setting you up? For what? I disagree with you, that's all. But if you're going to put something out there as an opinion, people are entitled to ask you questions to clarify if they understand your position completely. Which I think I do now.

But I've learned the hard way that engaging you in anything beyond something we agree on will only ever get me accused of impersonating people - something I've never done once on this blog.

I'm not in a hurry to experience that again. Trust me.

"They trusted him to be honest, and, in athletes, where mney is concerned, that’s usually rare. Look at what Schilling did in Boston. He knew that he needed surgery and Boston took him at his word and screwed them out of a contract."

:D

I remember saying the Sux organization had every right to take umbrage at Curt the mouth holding the team hostage with his last-minute decision to come back after announcing retirement and expecting the Sux organization to roll over and bark, and taking a ration of crap from Sux fans who basically told me to mind my own business and that the mouth had earned the right to do that.

Well I laughed my butt off when Curt was shut down before he even got started!

Boy you are right about not being able to trust players to be honest when it comes to $$$$$!

Trisha, I have no problem with anyone posting anything here as long as they are cordial and not trolls. The only time I will root for the Mets is when they play the Red Sox (or maybe even the Rays) next year in interleague play where Mets wins benefit the Yanks.

trisha - BRING BOBBY BACK!
September 24th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
“Trisha, Andy wasn’t hurt in Sunday’s game.

He was hut mucch before that, sometime in July/August.”

Then you missed Pat M’s point which says that you play in pain but you don’t play hurt. He hurt the team and potentially himself by playing hurt.

____________________________________________________

Some players will play hurt when they're at the end of their careers because they feel like they owe something to the team, especially if they know that at an advanced age (for ball players) that surgery will probably end their career. Nolan Ryan pitched his last year, knowing that he needed Tommy John surgery, but, also knew that at age 46 he'd never pitch again. Pettitte felt he owed the team everything he had, since there were no better choices available in the system. I'm sure that if he feels that he can't be affective any more, he won't sign another contract. That was one reason that NYY signed him to the option year in 2006. They trusted him to be honest, and, in athletes, where mney is concerned, that's usually rare. Look at what Schilling did in Boston. He knew that he needed surgery and Boston took him at his word and screwed them out of a contract.

Why does everyone forget Hughes' game against the Indians in his second start back from the dl last year? Him and Joba combined for a shutout.

Angel I personally don't care whether you were trying to set me up or just wanted an answer.

I absoutely apply the same standard and think Jeter should have shut it down if he was hurt.
