I for one llike the way it appears Hal operates. In that chair you need patience and judgement.

We don't need to go all "Chicken Little" on FA pitching before FA period even begins, do we?

There will be good pitchers in the trade market too. and as others have written, the Yanks have already added a big time starter named Wang.

If Hal really cared aout Cashman or had 'power' like people claim he does, he would tell his brother to shut up. If hr wants to talk about Torre and playoff seeding or something stupid, then let him as long as he isin't undermining Cashman.

If Hal was a leader, he would set his brother straight and tell him to stop threatening Cashman. Or he would cut off his access to the media.

This shows me that Hal is kind of a middle man. He will listen to Hank on some things (A-Rod/Posada/MO contracts) and listen to Cashman on some things (not trading for Santana due to financial concerns). He is easily influenced and whoever makes the strongest argument, he will side with. For example, if Hank convinces Hal that we need 2 FA pitchers and Cashman only wants one and wants to give the kids the other slot, Hank might make a convincing argument that we need to win next year and the kids have been overhyped, and Hal might side with him.

Hal is a middle man, he has the power, but he gets imput from every cook in the kitchen and whoever has the best argument for/against something will win out.

Betsy,

I don't know. Hank is rather harmless.

I just can't see Cashman leaving. The hard work is done. He elevated the farm system and rode out most of the albatross contracts. Why leave now and let someone else pick the fruits of his labor?

It's really on the cusp, we've got Joba, Coke, and Aceves already contributing.

On the horizon, you've got Hughes, IPK, Sanchez, and Gardner.

And just beyond that you've got Jackson (whom he pulled aside and gave great words of encouragement), Melancon, Brackman, Horne, et al.

If he gets a Theo type deal, he's back.

No wonder you look the way that you do. Curious, how much is the paper paying you, Pete?

Guys, calm down...we were within 2 when Joba went down and that was without Wang and Posada. We still ended up with 88+ victories. Have a little faith.

I think Cashman is really, truly annoyed this time and I think there is an excellent chance that he just decides that he can't deal with the shenanigans anymore. Hank isn't going to change and Cash knows it. Who wants to wake up every morning not knowing that today might be yet another day where one of your bosses makes it impossible to do your job? Cash was hired to be a GM, not a baby sitter and, unfortunately, Hank needs a babysitter.

PHI/WSH
MIL/CHC
KC/MIN
BOS/NYY

all on FOX

The funny part is the most intriguing game is Mets/Marlins and thats not on FOX. They chose a meaningless Yankees/Red Sox game over that? And PHI/WSH has no intrigue, you know the Phillies are in. Unless the want to show the celebration live.

And Royals/Twins? Really?
