This has to approached position by position and by problems.

The first problem is that the Yankee Org. has to figure
out a way to ID P arm problems . There is an org. that
has rehabed P and teacher to throw in another way .

This org has to be employed . Amoung the problems of rehab.
Is the top draft choice of the Yanks last year .
The Fish P who actually , ' wanted to be a Yankee ." some
thing the senior S. actually did not hear very often.
Even the best Middle Relief P rookie has an arm problem .
This goes on an on . The point is that this is something
wrong in aquiring P and keeping P from going through operations .

As to the two older picthers Pettitte: $16 million
Mussina: $11 million - These two are bargins as these
two kept the Yanks out of last place - last year.

As to the need to replace them . This is immediate .
This means you have to retain them till you have top
P that are have no arm problem - will not develop arm
problems - to take their place in constant production.

Mussina at 11 million is a bargin to keep anyway as
he probable has a better attitude than most other P's

CC Sabathia is THE BEST CHOICE IF HE AS YOU SAID DID NOT
BURN OUT HIS ARM . IF A CONTRACT CAN BE STRUCTUREDD FOR
THIS HE OUGHT TO BE SIGNED BY THE YANKS. - SOMEONE ELSE
WILL SIGN HIM FOR HIGH MONEY AND THE YANKS SHOULD OFFER
HIM LESS INNNG FOR AN EXCANGE OF THE HEALTH PROVISION .

JOBA SHOULD NOT BE A STARTER -WHY ARM PROBLEMS . MIDDLE
OR THE PRE CLOSER SEEMS A GOOD POSITION FOR HIM.
YEARS AGO REGGETI ( SPELLING ) WAS MOVE FROM HIS EXCELLENT
R.P. TO S.P. AND THIS WAS REALLY A TOTAL BACK FIRE. IT
WORKED FOR A YEAR AND THEREAFTER IT FAILED -SAME WITH JOBA.

PITCHING HAS TO HAVE ACES . THE YANKS DO NOT HAVE STOPPERS.
FORD WAS A STOPPER IN HIS TIME . HUNTER WAS A STOPPER
IN HIS TIME . EVEN STOTTLEMYER (SPEILLNG) WAS A STOPPER
IN THE ERA OF THE CBS HOLDING OF OWNERSHIP AND NONE CARE .

A CAMP SEASON WITH GOOD HITTING THAT HAS GOOD CLUTCH HITTING
( YANK NOW DO NOT HAVE CLUTCH HITTING ) NEED AT LEAST
TWO ACE P. AND SOME 2 OTHERS THAT ARE GOOD P'S WITH GOOD
TO GREAT R.P . THIS MEANS THE YANKS HAVE TO BUY THESE ACES.

1ST B. RE SIGN GiambI - OBVIOUS HE IS NOT WORTH 21 MILLION,
WITH HIS DRUG THING OVER AND HIS LOSS OF PRODUCTION .
RE SIGN HIM FOR A YEAR AT 10 MILL OR 8 RENEWABLE FOR
ANOTHER YR . OR GET TEX . GIAMBI IS GETTING ON IN YRS TOO.

2ND CANO STAYS OR MAKE A BETTER CASE FOR A BETTER PLAYER
THAT WILL AD MARGINAL VALUE TO CLUTCH HITTING .
SS JETER STAYS BUT HE TOO HAS TO BE REPLACED -HIS INSIDE
OUT SWING IS NOT DOING IT , AND HE IS NOT THE CLUTCH HITTER
HE WAS YARS AGO .
3RD BASE A ROD - A POOR CLUTCH HITTER IN ALL OF THE YANK
PLAY OFFS . THIS WILL NOT DO . HE SHOULD BE TRADED FOR
TOP PLAYERS OF OTHER TEAMS . NEED CLUTH HITTERS .

C.
PUDGE IS OLD , OLD , OLD . IF POSADA IS NOT COMING BACK
AS A C . THE YANKS NEED A C. THEY GAVE UP THEIR FARM
TEAM PICK TO THE RAYS , AND BAD MOUTHED HIM - WHEN
A FEW YEARS BEFORE THE LAUDED HIM AS THE REPLACEMENT FOR
POSADA . THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM FOR YANK MANAGMENT .

THEY HAVE TO SIGN PUDGE TO HAVE A C FOR NEXT YEAR .

LF HELP , YOU HAVE THE YANK LF NOW LISTED AS DH . ALSO
YOU HAVE DAMON WHO PLAYS HERE BECAUSE HE DOESN'T HAVE
THE ARM FOR CF ANYMORE- NOR SPEED

CF
SOLUTION IS DEFINATED GET ADAM DUMM . I BELIEVE HE IS A
CF AND THE YANKS NEED A CF . 3 YR CONTRACT AT MOST .
BETTER A 1 YEAR CONTRACT IF HE HIT X NUMBER OF HR 'S .
HE IS NOT A CLUTH HITTER .

RF .
AGING BOBBY . HE FITS IN WITH A POSSIBLE TYPE OF TEAM
THAT THAT WAITS ON THE RIGHT PITCH . HE HAS SOME CLUTCH
HITTING ABILITY , BUT CERTAIN IS NOT A GOOD OR GREAT CLUTCH
HITTER .

CLUTCH HITTING POOR , THE REMEDY IS TO AQUIRE THE HITTING .

IF HOLIDAY IS AVAILABLE GET HIM . DROP BOBBY OR ASK
BOBBY TO PLAY CF AND SKIP ON DUNN.

I PERSONALLY GREW UP IN THE BRONX AND A DEFAULT
YANKEE FAN ASHAVING THE YANKEES THE ONLY TEAM THAT
DID NOT LEAVE THE N.Y. CITY AREA SANS THE DODGERS AND GIANTS

Last time I checked, what most Yankee fans wanted was to win NOW as in 2009. Not 5 years down the road after going 61-101 for 5 years straight. By he time we would be back in contention, all the young 'home-grown' players would be getting older too, and then someone like you (Bart) would probably suggest we do it all over again. And for someone to be happy with a losing team for 3 years is one weird fan. I want to see the Yanks W.S. Champs in 2009. I hope most Yankee fans would agree.

NO NO NO NO NO to any of them

The strategy was to dump salaries of the old folks -- soon only Jeter Posada Mo Mussina and Pettit then ARod have to go and rely on the minors to send players we watch at Trenton and WB -- then we wil al be contrent fans with the home grown guys -- we can sell or trade our best players the way the twins do

Isn't that why we blew off Santana and put this year at risk -- this is no time to chnage the strategy

Get rid of the old guys and the salaries and field the kids -- a few years with a 100 losses and we will turn into Tampa Bay

Now that the Cashman debate is out of the way...we can focus on making moves on people who will actually be playing on the field..first of all once it was a sure thing that Sabathia was going to be a FA this year...i was all for it. But now, that has cahnged a bit. The Brewers are abusing his arm;pitching him on 3 days rest and still letting him go around 100 pitches per game. Its unbelievable. So after what i thought would be a for sure 'yes' is now looking like a gamble to me. Who knows how well he will be pitching in 3 years, maybe even sooner. That being said, what otherdurable pitchers are on the market not too many. The rest of them come with big price tags and no warranty. Burnett and Sheets are probably already making reservations for the disabled list for all i know.:) If I had to sign one of them i would still go with CC he's a big lefty and a 'true ace'. Put him on the rotation and you have 2 aces in the front followed hopefully by Chamberlain and then a Petitte? Hughes? Mussina? fighting for the 4 and 5 spot(maybe not Moose). Ok so once we get the pitching sorted out, there are endless options on position players. I say give an offer to Tex if he takes it, great if he doesnt, move on and spend the money elswhere. Next, Im all for a matt kemp deal he's a young outfielder who can Hit a perfect replacement for abreu, even in the batting order. Then, assuming Cano goes in the kemp deal, sign Hudson. And heck, if you want to get real creative and solve all of our center field problems how about trading for like Nate Mclouth or the 'Flyin' Hawaiian' Shane Victorino? Hey, better than Gardner who might be able to hit a ball 250 feet on a good day. Bottom line is...this off season will be big, and a cruical one to the yankees future.

Sign Sabathia no matter what it takes. We need a guy like him at the top of the rotation.

I also think Mark Prior would be a nice gamble. he may not be healthy to start the season but give him an incentive ridden contract and hope for the best. He is a guy who has huge upside and could be stellar if he has a healthy season.

I'm not to keen on Lowe... but we do need another reliable starter and looking at the FA pool Lowe might be our best option. You can never have enough starting pitching.

Oh ya and resign Pettite

Sabathia
Wang
Chamberlain
Pettite
Lowe
Hughes
Kennedy
Prior

Now that would be something to work with.

As for 1B. I would try and package some young guys to get a Kotchman-typer player. Try and keep Cano and Hughes If we can

Hey Phil, I think the state school comment was a joke. If you look at Pete's bio, he says went to UMASS.

Yanks have lacked an ace for years now. Sign CC and finally there will be an ace to ease the pressure on the rest of the rotation. Wang is no ace, a 2 guy at best. Grab Lowe to round out the rotation. He was a party animal in Boston and still performed.

Eh, I want Overbay at 1st. Dunno why, but I've always liked him. Just need to convince Toronto that's there's unless they mega rebuild they CAN'T compete with the Rays, Yanks, and Sox in the same division.

If not, then sign Tex to a 5-year deal. And bloat it. REALLY bloat it.

Offer Marte and Abreu arbitration with maximum pay cuts. Hopefully they decline, and suddenly we have 4 1st round picks to work with. If not, we have a good lefty and a solid RFer for another year.

If you trade Cano, sign Aaron Miles, a gamer.
