SJ44- You have a lot of excellent ideas and insight, but in my opinion, in order to maximize the teams perception of their talent, any input from the coaches and manager would be prudent for the GM and team to listen to.

Cashman, the GM since 1998, is to hold a news conference Wednesday.

“I know I’ve said it before, but it’s an incredible opportunity and honor to hold the title of general manager for the New York Yankees,” Cashman said in a statement issued by the team. “With it comes a great responsibility to ownership, the people who wear the uniform and our fan base.

“I’ve got a job to finish here. That’s the bottom line.

“I consider coming off a season where we didn’t reach the playoffs for the first time since 1993 as a personal challenge. I’ve never been one to run from a challenge, and I look forward to having the chance to go after this thing again.”

question for anyone in the know:

why is it that some of the beat writers are saying that Jeremy Bleich will need TJ in the offseason. If he needs TJ, is there any reason at all to risk further damage to other areas, including the elbow, by sending him to Hawaii? How can that line of thinking make any sense at all? Are they getting Bleich mixed up with Bittle (who the Yanks didn’t sign)?

i know some of the beat writers know nothing about the prospects, but come on now, this is the second time I’ve seen this

Its a done deal. Cash is back.

I doubt Girardi is going to have a lot of personnel input.

His roster input will be minimal. Will he give suggestions? Yes. That will be about the extent of it.

Success brings more input for managers re: personnel issues. Until he has more success, his power in that area won’t increase.
