Don’t want Sabathia or Burnett.

Sabathia chokes in the playoffs. And his arm is going to fall off any minute now. Not worth 125 million dollars.

AJ Burnett is coming off a career year (in a contract year) and has always had arm problems. His era this year was over 4.50 and he is frustratingly inconsistent.

First priority should be getting a 1B- that man is Texeira.

CC is a very good pitcher, but people here are WAY overrating him:
Career ERA+
———–
Santana: 144
Halladay: 131
Sabathia: 121
Wang: 116

So, according to people here, Wang is not even an Ace (which may be true), but you are willing to give CC, Santana type money and 7-8 years, for an ERA+ 5 pts higher then Wang?

We call that desperation.
We already have a solid 1-2 in Wang/Joba. Will Phil be a solid #3? My guess is Cashman would rather get 2 solid #3 types with 3-5 year contracts and pay a little more then CC alone costs. Then we would have 5 solid starters and flexibility.

AGAIN: This team needs position players more then pitching.

I see this posted every now and then (this claim that the Yankees are still feeling the affects of 2004) and I donâ€™t buy it. I just don’t know. This team has not had its magic for awhile one could argue it was lost in game 7 01 WS, I tend to believe it was in 04 when the Sox celebrated on our field.

I agree. However I expect the Twins to want a haul for Young. He is a guy who has great potential for high stolen bases, high slugging and great fielding numbers. However thus far he hasn’t shown much in any of those fields. In the right situation Delmon Young is a guy who could hit .300/25/100 and 15 outfield assists, he has some tools.
