I suspect Yankee admin has a lot more on its mind right now than organizing a concert. There's a lot of planning to be done if this off-season is to have a chance of leading into a successful season next year. It's all hands on deck, I hope.

This seems to be all he got in terms of a reason (at least in the 4 a.m. version of his story):

"The Yankees were considering having a charitable event at Yankee Stadium," Jason Zillo, the team's media relations director, said in a statement Tuesday. "However, the Yankees realize that the final event at Yankee Stadium should be a baseball game, which in fact took place on Sept. 21, 2008."

“Mark Feinsand has reported that the November Stadium-closing concert has been canceled by NYY. They’ll make a cash donation to the charity that was supposed to benefit”

DID HE WRITE A REASON?

--------------------------------------------------------------

Here's the reason. Because no one cares. Except the fans but they don't count for anything in Yankeeland.

Sad to hear the November Stadium sendoff has been cancelled. http://www.amny.com/sports/baseball/yankees/am-yankee1008,0,2387163.story

The dude in the pic sat couple of rows in front of us every Saturday game. I'm gonna miss seeing a lot of the familiar faces that we saw every Saturday. They were a mostly typical, loyal, intelligent bunch of Yankee fans. Not the sort that booed A Rod's every move. Here's hoping my compadres in the New Stadium are the same.
