I would take that for a career average playing center field for the Yankees. That’s pretty good in a era when many people don’t care much about it.

I don’t mean this as a slight against Bernie but his average is not .308 as the article suggests, it is .297. His last few seasons brought that career average crashing down

Ummmm, did Bernie not win 6 AL Penants? During the 01 WS I was in the Army and missed the entire postseason, but I do not recalling hearing afterwards that he did not play.

Wow, Pete, thank you for this! I am a Purchase alumni and I taught there during the Yankees dynasty years of 98, 99,2000, and through 2001. Makes me want to go back to see the old place. Sounds like this will be a super interesting event.
