it seems that everyone against signing tex is talking about offense. not only is he the best hitter on the market, but he plays phenomenal defense, which will help the entire rotation’s numbers.

I think in Posada’s case the Mets had a solid offer, and theYanks had to up the ante. It was one of those, reward your own type of deals. As far as Arod is concerned, the Yanks gave him a pass. I think he and Boras over estimated the market for him, and most teams laughed at his demands. He could probably been had for 7 years 25M per, which would have been 175M. That’s the deal he should have gotten. But Hank is a moron, and flinched. I think if Cashman was in complete control, Arod would be playing for alot less, or somewhere else.

Signing Teixeira would definitely open the door for other moves.
It may mean that either Damon or Matsui could be dealt to gain some roster flexability with so many DH types still around.
Packaging one with any of Duncan, Kennedy, Betemit and others in the system for starting pitching in the event Sabathia or Burnett are not signed.
Posada could be used in certain games at first base to give Teixeira a day off or be used as a DH.
Whoever survives a Damon or Matsui deal is the DH for the bulk of games

tex at first,damon in left,nady in right,matsui at dh,posada catching.there will be no problems at all.

the yankees made a huge mistake in signing arod to a 10 yr contract for 27-30 million a year.he would have taken less.
they also made a mistake in signing posada for 4 years and will make the same mistake with jeter.

boston is smart,they let the old players go without looking back or feeling guilty.this is seriously hurting the yankees.
