Tune in for some talk

Just a reminder, Journal News columnists Sam Borden and Rick Carpiniello are talking sports over on our Mogulus channel. Lots of Yankees and Giants chatter.

Speaking of Sam, check out this tremendous story he did today on a high school athlete in Westchester and her battle with cystic fibrosis.

I heard Isola is doing the show today, I think I heard that IDK where he is but I heard he was doing the show today.

  3. mel October 16th, 2008 at 1:39 pm

    Brandon,

Who is Isola? Is he a TE?

Maybe the producer wrote Isola-TE, guest host.

So Francesa is doing what the producer wrote in the notes. Isolate the guest host.

  4. Mrs, Kekich October 16th, 2008 at 1:45 pm

Frank Isola – Knicks writer for NY Daily news, also on NBA TV as a contributor. I htink he used to cover the Yankees for the Post in the early 90s? or late 80s?

  5. Knudsen October 16th, 2008 at 1:46 pm

Interesting article by Bill Rhoden in the Times yesterday. Is Manny the Villain or is Victim? http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10.....f=baseball

    Opening line from K-Law’s chat:

Keith Law: (1:03 PM ET ) So I hear that Chad Billingsley is now blaming the dry cleaner for failing to get the yellow stain out of the front of his pants…

That is so mean. But I laughed.

  7. mel October 16th, 2008 at 1:49 pm

    Mrs.

Thanks. A search pulled up a Knicks Knation (lame) blog at the Daily News.

Face doesn’t look familiar to me.

  8. R-Tek October 16th, 2008 at 1:49 pm

Is Isola allowed to talk or is he merely blending into the background?

  9. Oddessy October 16th, 2008 at 1:50 pm

    mel,

Are you originally from the NY area?

  10. S.A.-Looking forward to 2009 and show CC the money (and food)! October 16th, 2008 at 1:50 pm

Oh! I heard Isola mutter a “yeah”
    Do a shot!

  12. mel October 16th, 2008 at 1:56 pm

    Oddessy,

LOL. No. I was born in the time zone, but that was a looong time ago.

I’m not familiar with NY at all.

  13. mel October 16th, 2008 at 1:57 pm

Looks like K-law reads the blog. haha.

Keith Law: (1:20 PM ET ) Darvish isn’t available at all. I’d stay 1000 miles away from Garland. No, 10,000 miles. I was debating with two scouts I’m friendly with about Garland’s offseason value. I said I wouldn’t go over a year; they said he’s worth 3-4 years because (I’m massively editing here) he won 16 games and threw 200 innings. So let someone else make that mistake. Sabathia and Burnett are top-shelf, Dempster just below it. Mussina/Pettitte are your one-year filler guys – you get one premium guy, bring one of those two (or both) back, hope that Hughes steps in.

  14. gayle October 16th, 2008 at 1:58 pm

    Brandon

Isola isdoing the show today. Watch Mike willpick him as it allows him (mike that is) to have the most on air time without being questioned about his opinions.

Couple of things from Heyman’s SI colum today

For you Hank Blalock fans he quotes a scout who said he thought he had the best second half hitter he saw in teh league this year.

Orlando Cabrera looks unlikely to return with the White Sox.

Does he play any other position than SS? If so would he consider being a bench player??

  15. vtred October 16th, 2008 at 1:58 pm

The Waikiki game yesterday had no power? Do they use Tiki torches to illuminate the stadium rather than normal lights for the games?

  16. Time to "Go John Galt" October 16th, 2008 at 1:59 pm

Will tonight be Veritek’s last night as a Saux?

  17. oatrick max October 16th, 2008 at 1:59 pm

    maybe Orlando Cabrera for CF?

  18. Rebecca--optimist prime--staying to write the story October 16th, 2008 at 2:00 pm

My mother is a CF carrier. Which means I might be one.

    Nasty disease.

  19. Ardvark October 16th, 2008 at 2:00 pm

Boston will probably trade Buchholz for Saltalamachia, Angel Salmone, or Max Ramirez or some other young talented catcher.

  20. mel October 16th, 2008 at 2:01 pm

    vtred,

I was joking last night about the tiki torches.

Apparently there was a power outage in Waipahu in the am. Then last night that stretch of the island from Aiea to Waipahu had another outage probably related to the one in the morning.

    Gayle,

OC is intriguing. Very. Can he play first? lol.

  21. Dave D October 16th, 2008 at 2:02 pm

mel, that sounds exactly like something you would say lol, worded perfectly.

  22. Brandon (TEIX IS NOT WORTH IT, GET CC !)..."Don't trade Robi !" October 16th, 2008 at 2:02 pm

Boston will probably trade Buchholz for Saltalamachia, Angel Salmone, or Max Ramirez or some other young talented catcher.

Why would Texas do that ?

  23. Fredo Corleone October 16th, 2008 at 2:03 pm

“Orlando Cabrera looks unlikely to return with the White Sox.

Does he play any other position than SS? If so would he consider being a bench player??”

No (1525 games at SS/30 or so at 2B) and exceedingly doubtful.

  24. Alfred E. Kennedy October 16th, 2008 at 2:04 pm

I think when it’s all said and done, Sabathia goes West and never has serious negotiations with us, and we nab Burnett instead.

  25. Todd Drew October 16th, 2008 at 2:06 pm

    Mel,
Not familiar with New York? I think it’s time for a visit. Opening Day is April 16.

  26. Al from BK( GET ME CC, BRING BOWA BACK! RYAN GARKO FOR 1B.) October 16th, 2008 at 2:07 pm

“Boston will probably trade Buchholz for Saltalamachia, Angel Salmone, or Max Ramirez or some other young talented catcher.

Likely because Texas has no pitching and 4 catchers so if they can get a guy back who has talent/potential and has thrown a no hitter then I think they would see it as filling need from a strength.

  27. mel October 16th, 2008 at 2:08 pm

    Dave D,

Are you talking about the K-Law thing? You got to wonder if these guys read blogs because there are so many teams to cover and the fans are pretty knowledgable. If you can filter out the crazies. :)

  28. mel October 16th, 2008 at 2:09 pm

    Todd Drew,

    That would be nice!

  29. Fredo Corleone October 16th, 2008 at 2:11 pm

“I think when it’s all said and done, Sabathia goes West and never has serious negotiations with us, and we nab Burnett instead.”

Don’t disagree. I think Boston will be in on Burnett pretty hard. Yanks can’t sleep on that during their pursuit of Sabathia.

  30. Brandon (TEIX IS NOT WORTH IT, GET CC !)..."Don't trade Robi !" October 16th, 2008 at 2:17 pm

I know the pitching needs of Texas but I bet they get better Bucholz from alot of teams. Bucholz stock dropped this season went down to AA to work on the fastball.

  31. Brandon (TEIX IS NOT WORTH IT, GET CC !)..."Don't trade Robi !" October 16th, 2008 at 2:21 pm

I bet they get better than just Bucholz *

(Be back later people got work to finish) :?

  32. raymagnetic October 16th, 2008 at 2:43 pm

I love how Brandon asks why would Texas trade one of their young catchers for Buccholz when lastir month he was clamoring for an Ian Kennedy and Salty swap saying Salty value was low.

Brandon is also the guy who thinks Cleveland will trade La Porta for Hughes after they just traded CC for Laporta.

Yet in Brandon’s mind it’s all LoGiCaL supposively (supposively is a word Brandon likes to use). I do get a kick out of reading hi posts though. The comedic value is quite high.
