Check out his numbers against some Cy Young pitchers over his career...like Clemens, Colon, Pedro Martinez, Halladay, Mulder, Tim Hudson, and others like Beckett, David Wells, Kelvim Escobar, Burnett, Garza, Langston and on and on.

86w183 - I did mean “ARod.” Thanks. Just a slip of a simple vowel.

However, your clutch comment still does not differentiate what talent the pitcher had.

I watched ARod like we all have and believe his stats were largely developed against the average AL pitcher. And at times, he certainly looked like he had no plan at the plate.

Pat - I did see Berra play - many games, given I am 66!

For every player, most of their numbers are against fair to bad pitchers. That's why the pitchers are fair to bad.

Pat, I saw quite a lot of Berra's career, from the mid-50s forward. Like most players, he had good and bad post seasons.

Another player, Mickey Mantle was always "clutch" in the WS, given his homers, RBIs and other numbers. However, he only hit .257. Rodriguez, from game 5 through the 2006 post season had read 4-41 with 1 RBI. From 1961-1963, Mantle had the numbers of 6-46 with 1 homer and 1 RBI.
It only means that even legends have long strings of bad post seasons.
