Willie Randolph returning to the Yankees would be a mess only to people named Joe Girardi. if the guy wants to manage, then he is obviously going to have to look elsewhere (for the time being) but if he would agree to return as a coach he’d be a great addition to the staff. Girardi should probably hope Randolph gets some years managing for another team because if he’s on the market in ‘09 and the Yanks struggle Joe could find himself replaced pretty quickly I have to think.

Hughes has run the gamut on injuries in his short career, but why do I have the strange feeling that he’s going to admit to having some arm trouble, and not admitting it to the team right away. Compensating for arm issues can directly effect mechanics. Why do I see this kid missing a season on the DL with arm or shoulder trouble?

I would endorse making Thomson the 3rd base coach, promoting Pena to bench coach, which I think would be helpful to Girardi, and then they could bring Tino aboard as 1b coach.

Meanwhile, the Phillies need to wrap this title up tonight so the Yankees can start doing things already! Although I say that with mixed feelings because I read somewhere (cant recall where) last week to expect a Mussina retirement press conference shortly after WS. Did anyone else hear that?

Addai has stunk up the joint all year. Rhodes is a good backup along with Hart. Manning will be throwing it up over 40x anyways. Protection is what im concerned about.

What happened to the Phil Hughes that shut down the Cleveland Indians in the 2007 ALDS? We need him back.

For the first time in Hughes’ Yankee career I’m really worried about his value to us. He has gone from future ace to mid-rotation starter, if we’re lucky. I’m sick of reading even the valid explanations or rationale for this situation.

I’m disappointed.
