I’ll be shocked if Mussina retires coming off 20 wins and one of his best seasons in years. All these whispers about him wanting to “spend time with his children” is just creating leverage.

Even if there were some truth to it, I’ll bet having spent the month of October driving his kids to endless fall baseball, soccer, flag football, basketball, hockey, lacrosse, etc., etc., he’s probably dying for Spring Training to start. I know I am.

Cash needs to hold the line firmly at one-year, though. It’s no accident that Mussina’s two best recent seasons came in walk years.
