Sorry to hear you were there. Iâ€™m sure we all had the same bad vibes going into that game.

I still say we win that series and the susequent WS with Pettite.

Yeah, we had no lefty, which was fatal. But we might have pulled it out any way, if Torre had run on Wakefield and if Jorge had thrown the ball to the correct side of 2nd base. We didn’t have Giambi, either, who brought us back to life in ’03 Game 7.

I had a feeling things were all wrong, though, when Rivera had to fly to Panama because of the swimming pool tragedy. Ah, well.

And you know, I’m not really sorry I was there. I was there for Game 7 in ’03, too; all Yankee history means something to me, so I’ll endure the sad moments because it’s all part of the deeper fan experience. I’m just sorry I wasn’t there when Mercer won the Thurman game. Watched that one on TV.

The fact is we didnâ€™t trade for Johan Santana and now Cash is going to try and make-up for his boo-boo of holding onto Hughes by throwing a ton of money at CC.

Yank 2010,

i agree 100%. we were not a good team this year. the 89 wins was cosmetic. take out that 8 game win streak and we were basically a .500 team. that was the only run we ever made.

injury excuses are for losers. boston and tampa can use them too. they lost big pieces of their team too for chunks at a time. kazmir and dice-K eached missed a month. ortiz and crawford missed almost 2 months. lowell and beckett were nicked up all year.

cashman needs to recognize that we were a 3rd place team and fix it.

We as fans should be happy that our team recognizes they made a mistake with the Santana trade and are willing to go above and beyond for the best pitcher on the market.

Also, let’s not be naive. Even if the Yankees land CC, they are not the favorites to win the AL East. Would they stand a fair chance? Yes, but they are still quite flawed. I’d say CC – Wang – Joba are about on par with Lester – Beckett – Matsuzaka. Not to mention how improved Tampa Bay is.

its their money, why should we care? its up to them to set the precedent for future transactions. if they want to overpay for everyone, then let them. why should it bother us? they know how to handle their money.
