WOW, 9' tall, doesn't seem like he's jumping (my take from that pic, unless his jumps are just that effortless...), and is towering over the rim :?

"Baseball has evolved into a regional sport UNLESS the Yankees or Cubs are in there, because those teams have intrigue."

I agree that the Yankees have intrigue. However, I think that it probably has more to do with the fact that New Yorkers are bold individuals who aren't afraid to move to other cities. That's why when you go to another city, you are bound to see people wearing Yankees hats. They are simply former New Yorkers. I'm in Chicago after having lived in NYC for the majority of my life and let me tell you - the thought of moving out of Chi-Town scares the crap out of most of the people I know here. One girl I know moved to NYC and after a year came back because she couldn't handle it. Frank Sinatra wasn't lying when he sang that if you can make it in NYC, you can make it anywhere.

I don't know if the rain out helped or hurt Philly.

On the one hand, Tampa got momentum and got Hamels out of the game.

On the other hand, Philly has an extra set of ABs with a rested Madson/Lidge available for 4 innings and the game is now 3.5 innings long on the road in 30 degree weather. Price, for all the hoopla, is still a rookie who has never done this before and will be expected to throw 3 scoreless.

I think whoever strikes first wins.

dave,

If the Yankees, Sox, or Mets are not in it, we don't care regardless of combination.

We wouldn't be anymore into Dodgers-Rays, Cubs-White Sox, Rays-Cubs, Angels-Cubs etc.

Baseball has evolved into a regional sport UNLESS the Yankees or Cubs are in there, because those teams have intrigue. Red Sox-Dodgers would have fit the bill this year too, but Red Sox or Dodgers alone vs. anyone else would have bombed ratings-wise too (as evident by Red Sox-Rockies being the 2nd lowest rated WS of all-time).

This could be interesting as the Phillies momentum has been sort of washed away by the rain.

Watch Tampa win the 3 inning classic tonight and then it will be Philly's turn to get nervous. This could be a worthwhile series yet.

Don't believe for a second that Tampa doesn't think they can't win 2 straight at home.

Like you said yesterday pete, does any one outside of philly or tampa even care?
Its nice to know the yanks are missed in the ratings though and the sux being in doesnt make up for the yanks offense. I always hear my friends from boston saying the yanks may have more fans but the sux have more hardcore fans. The ratings prove otherwise I would say and the yanks have local teams competing for the fans. The sux dont have any competition within the entire New England area. I hope that cash picks up CC, tex and trades for another solid starter and all of a sudden the yanks look like the team to beat again. Unlike last off season, when it seemed clear atlrast to me that the yanks no longer looked like the favorite in the division (not even on paper.) That was the first time I ever said that in the off season and i became a yankee fan in 1995 (I was 11 and didnt watch baseball before then.)
