Doesn’t CC live in Orange County?

Could Cashman legally start to wine and dine him this week while hes out there?

  3. Al from BK( Fit CC for pinstripes. Jets are tied for first!) November 3rd, 2008 at 5:38 pm

Okay Cash get out the check-book and approach Genske calmly :)

  4. Rudy November 3rd, 2008 at 5:39 pm

Given his recent success, would the Yankees dare bring back Kyle at a cheaper cost?

The next 2 months will be great Sports months in NY.

Hot stove heating up. Giants dominating on their way to a top seed in the NFC. Jets looking alive and will be in a tight playoff race till the end. Rangers looking good.

It will make us forget about the Knicks for the time being.

BBB & SOS: all classic games, you mentioned

maybe i’ll repost the topic, when other people on the board.

Do all the GM’s line up across from each other and clap and holler in unison and high five the agents as they run past them?

I hope that happens otherwise my confidence in these meetings are shot.

“Greg Genske, the agent for CC Sabathia, checked in about an hour ago.”

Did Cashman send up the stripper and bottle of scotch yet?

OK – raise your hand if you thought Sal Fasano Aaron Boone were both long out of baseball!.

“players filing for free agency today were Paul Byrd, Sal Fasano, Krazy Kyle, Francisco Rodriguez, Rafael Furcal, Omar Vizquel and Aaron Boone.”

Hmmm, someone on this list just popped out of the page. Stache. Does he make more than minumum? This season catching class is a dandy.

    Bring back Boone!!

    Ok, kidding.

In all seriousness, I’m not sure I buy into this “the Yankees set the tone of the market” stuff. The Angels, Red Sox, Dodgers, and Phillies will all spend big money. Revenue sharing allowed small market teams like the Brewers to offer CC more money than the Mets gave Santana. The industry is wealthy, Americans just aren’t. You might see three $20 million players (CC, Manny, Tex) and one or two $15+ guys (Burnett, Lowe). Someone will be stupid and pay K-Rod 5/75 (Mets)

With $88 coming off the books, it’s easy to target the Yankees, but Cashman does not operate in a vacuum.

Cashman & Company will spend wisely this winter……

“Given his recent success, would the Yankees dare bring back Kyle at a cheaper cost?”

Kyle did not have much success after he was traded to Detroit. I am sure Cashman is wise enough to stay away.

i heard that cashman was talking to reds gm i wonder if they were dicussin about a potential trade for harang

  16. rackem November 3rd, 2008 at 6:20 pm

“we need to sign matt halladay”

Should that even be dignified with a response. Matt HOLLIDAY is still under contract with the Rockies until the end of next season.

Isn’t Walt Jockety the GM over there? And known for eating other GM’s lunch?

    Sal Fasano for the booth!

I don’t think I’ve ever heard the guy speak but something tells me he and Leiter and Coney would be a riot.

  20. BBB (Adam Dunn 4 yr deal, 1b in '09, DH in '10 & on) November 3rd, 2008 at 6:23 pm

Sal Fasano? Our emergency 3rd catcher troubles are over! See ya later, Chad Moeller! haha just kidding…kind of.

I wonder where Krazy Kyle will end up? I don’t see Detroit re-signing him and Cash certainly won’t go down that road again.

  21. trisha - I predicted the Rays over the Sux; I predicted the Phils over the Rays; stick with me. Yankees will win it all next season! :) November 3rd, 2008 at 6:24 pm

    I want Bobby Abreu back.

  22. Ben Stein November 3rd, 2008 at 6:24 pm

Just curious as to where the $88 million figure that everyone says is coming off the books.

    Mussina $11M
    Pettitte $16M
    Abreu $16M
    Giambi $21M
    Pavano $11M

    That’s 75M

Pudge made $13M but the Yankees paid less than half of that. I guess that would add up to 88 million if you counted all of Pudge’s 13M. But if you count all of that, the 88 million needs to be subtracted from a figure higher than their opneing day payroll of around $210 million.

    Am I forgetting anyone?

  23. S.A.-Looking forward to 2009 and show CC the money (and food)! November 3rd, 2008 at 6:24 pm

“Greg Genske, the agent for CC Sabathia, checked in about an hour ago.”

    Start the wooing

“Kyle did not have much success after he was traded to Detroit. I am sure Cashman is wise enough to stay away.”

With Kyle being traded and now that Giambi is gone. We dont have anyone on the team for a bench clearing brawl. Its either resign Kyle or promote Duncan.

  25. S.A.-Looking forward to 2009 and show CC the money (and food)! November 3rd, 2008 at 6:26 pm

Sal Fasano-now that man had some ‘stache

  26. Kevin November 3rd, 2008 at 7:22 pm

So I know that we don’t really need Aaron Boone. And that signing him to play any position would be dumb, but does anyone else really want to see him in pinstripes just so that everytime he comes up against the sox we can see a replay of that 03 HR? And the person who said “we need to sign matt halladay” I hope you are kidding. 1st its holliday. and 2nd we dont need him. and 3rd, He isnt a free agent, we would have to trade someone like hughes for him. so acquiring him would be classified as a bad idea.
