GreenBeret7,

I, as you may well know, have many connections in the baseball industry. My sources in the Dodgers’ FO staff tell me that there is no way Colleti would pull the trigger on that deal. Try starting with A-Jax, Hughes, Melancon, Betances, Montero, etc.

------------------------------------------------------------

i agree.

i though it was a joke.

not even remotely close.

Uh - there is no big deal with the private jet. It got kind of off track because I mentioned that Cashman seems to be a real down-to-earth guy and doesn't feel the need to play "look at me!" So I commented that I believed that Cashman woulnd't be the kind who really gave a crap about what kind of transportation he took since he seems like he has more class than that - meaning that he doesn't need to be treated like he's Donald Trump.

I stand by that. But that somehow got twisted into the jet vs. no jet issue.

I just take it as an example of "he said she said" meaning that men and women seldom speak the same language to begin with, and older generations of men likely speak a more foreign version than younger generations. There are always exceptions of course.

Sometimes I go with female speak - for obvious reasons - and end up having to break it down into a different language because men and women don't necessary have the same filters.

American air travel stinks.

I imagine that GM meetings these days are more like meetings of ivy-league, preppy statisticians talking about VORPS rather than a bunch of old baseball lifers telling old war stories and drinking too much.

Okay keep Afterman to handle the paperwork and MLB issues, but hire Arbuckle as an assistant GM with scouting and evaluation responsibilities.

Also, I did a little research on Billy Eppler, who's about 33-34 years of age so perhaps he has some potential to be something special for the Yankees as a baseball executive with scouting and evaluation skills.

Bronx Jeers,

Yes, Beltran would help Booby somewhat in the gap, but not the "Waaaalllll" plays. Does anyone know the composition of the right field Wall in the new Met park? That may well be the determining factor. Rumor also has it that the Cubs might be interested in Booby; I assume they will tell him, up front that there's brick behind the ivy. How do you think Sweet Lou would react when Booby does his usual on a "Brick Play?"

"They were leftovers."

Left over from what? With the exception of Wright, I think everyone I listed was not in the Mets system or on the team prior to Omar.

"Why would we be assuming the Mets are strapped financially?? They too are opening a new stadium with new revenue streams. Further, Alou and Martinez are off the books and Delgado, Schnieder, Wagner and Schoenwiess are off the books after next year. Can’t see the Mets crying poor. Further, aside from Beltran, their outfield stinks."

That may be true, Fredo. However, other organizations aren't as free with their money as we are. The Mets may have the money; doesn't mean that they want to spend it.

Fredo, I'm not saying the mets are strapped for cash,-They are not. They should have around 30mil. to spend this winter. I was suggesting that the Mets will, most likely, sign a closer (Fuentes?) and a starting pitcher (Lowe?). Both of those positions will cost big money to fill. RF\LF would be third on the list of priorities-I would assume.
