I am amazed how many people on this blog give so little respect to Abreu. He has played his heart out for the Yankees. He is the most consistant professional hitter on the team, wears out pitchers, gets a ton of walks, has an amazing and dangerous arm, hit 20 home runs, scored 100 runs, hit a 100 rbi's, stole 22 bases and folks talk about him like he is last year's garbage. I don't get it. If the Yankees don't offer him a 2 year contract with a option for a third year they are idiots!

Okay, call me crazy, but what's Pavano owed if his option is picked up? $13 million or thereabouts? I believe there is a $2 million buyout, so that would mean $11 million in additional obligations if he is brought back. Last year they paid Pettite 16 million to be league average. Given all the issues surrounding the staff, why not pick up the option? You have the certainty of Wang, Joba and I am assuming Hughes. How will Hughes do? Who knows. That leaves perhaps three spots to fill. If you don't need him, you can trade Pavano and get something for him. If the option isn't picked up, do the Yanks get any draft picks?

Hey does Phil Hughes qualify as a prospect again?;
he pitched 5 shutout innings tonight in the AzFL, struck out 8 and gave up only one hit.

Hey Pete

Thanks for blogging!

The open lot is planned to be luxury homes...since the housing bust it has remained a lot.

If you got the bucks and the time try Sapphires in Laguna Beach...great food, great wine.

"Hughes gameday pic looks pretty gangster."

Hughes can take on the world in his prescription specs and developing facial hair.

"Abreu only made 3 errors in right field in 150 games, but, nobody considers him a good fielder. Your numbers don’t support your arguement."

First baseman usually have a higher number of errors than right-fielders because they receive the ball more than any other fielder. Abreu is not a bad RF he is afraid of the wall and takes bad routes however he is not that bad.

Newark Bears- I think that Tex would be perfect in this offense gold glove switch hitting first baseman with tons of left-handed power. He would smack at least 40 HR's playing half his games at YS. However its asking alot of Cash to sign CC, Tex and AJ.

"Padres GM Kevin Towers recently spoke to the press, stating that Jake Peavy has now approved two AL teams in addition to his known five NL clubs. The Yankees and Angels are now possibilities. If there were to be any acceptable AL teams, it figured to be these two based on earlier rumblings"
