Sabathia has an open mind

Posted by: Peter Abraham - Posted in Misc on Nov 03, 2008 Print This Post Print This Post | Email This Post Email This Post

By now you’ve heard assorted rumors that CC Sabathia loves California. He loves to hit. He loves Laverne & Shirley.

“We’ve heard all that, too,” agent Greg Genske told me a few minutes ago. “All I can tell you is that CC is going to have an open mind about every team. He’ll listen to everybody.”

The Brewers have made Sabathia an offer and they gave exclusive negotiating rights until Nov. 14. But be assured that Sabathia will enter the market and see how much love there is out there for him.

Genske also said this process will not be drawn out. Sabathia wants to get offers and make a decision. There will be no tour of assorted cities and getting wined and dined.

    CC will be a Yankee

  2. Dan November 3rd, 2008 at 10:00 pm

I hope the Yankees get their hands on him, he is certainly the no.1 priority of the winter.

Hrrmm, Okay. CC wants no drawn out engagement. Cash needs
to show up at his place, give his wife a pleasant floral arrangement and hand him a blank check.

Nice to see that CC doesn’t have a huge ego. He could be the first dominoe in a long chain to fall.

Re: Moose. I’d like to see the Yankees, what’s the word? Pursue Mike? Show him how a little love? Everyone wants to be loved.

Hughes isn’t getting much of a chance to work on pitches. The outs are coming to early in the counts. Can’t see how this is helping him at all. Another disappointment.

*show him a little love. Not how to love.

  7. GreenBeret7 November 3rd, 2008 at 10:07 pm

Great. Now Hughes gives up a hit to a .160 hitter.

peavy would accept to yanks and would block a trade to the sox

  9. Brandon (TEIX IS NOT WORTH IT, GET CC !)..."Don't trade Robi !" November 3rd, 2008 at 10:09 pm

Ok I’m getting my crooked cap ready. As for Peavey NO the guy can’t pitch out of his park.

MLB trade rumors has a report that Towers says Peavy will accept a trade to the Yankees.

Go get Sabathia and then bring in Peavy and there is your two pitchers.

BTW The Yankees have signed Sergio Mitre

“Go get Sabathia and then bring in Peavy and there is your two pitchers.”

Rather attempt to get AJ or Oli atleast they can pitch in big cities.

Peavy is a very good pitcher however bringing him into the lions den that is the AL East doesn’t seem wise. However a CC/Peavy/Wang/Pettitte/Joba rotation is guaranteed to win 95 games barring injury of course.

    Come to NY CC

  15. 86w183 November 3rd, 2008 at 10:15 pm

I’d be okay with CC and Peavey and Pettite…. plus Joba and Wang while the young guns prove themselves.

Peavey would of course take at least two of the better young arms and probably someone like Montero or Romine and that’s too high a price when you don’t know how he’ll transition to the AL East

Patrick, the big question for the Yankees or any other team interested in Peavy is who are you willing to give up for Peavy. I don’t think Kennedy and some prospects get it done.

Are you willing to include Hughes as part of a package because I think that is what it would take.

  17. The Monarch November 3rd, 2008 at 10:17 pm

Perhaps a better title would be “CC’s Agent Has an Open Mind.” :)

  18. 34hughes November 3rd, 2008 at 10:18 pm

    i see it more peavey/wang/pettite/joba/hughes

  19. EvoLuTioN November 3rd, 2008 at 10:18 pm

All 8 of Hughes’ Ks tonight have been swinging

And it’s not worth it. When we talk Montero Romine, we better hear names like Liriano. Peavey doesn’t even want to be here we all know that, we saw the Randy Johnson story this would be act 2.

  21. 34hughes November 3rd, 2008 at 10:22 pm

    why they take him out

    Nothing is guaranteed.

Phil was only at 59 pitches. Weird.
Maybe they took him out because of his fingernail?

  24. Patrick Bateman November 3rd, 2008 at 10:26 pm

“Are you willing to include Hughes as part of a package because I think that is what it would take.”

Yes I’d trade Hughes in order to get a Sabathia, Peavy, Wang, Chamberlain, Pettitte rotation.

  25. Betsy November 3rd, 2008 at 10:32 pm

I think they took Phil out because the other kids have to get work……that stinks, though.

  26. Mike November 3rd, 2008 at 11:31 pm

hmm am I the only one that’s not a big fan of Peavy?

the guy completed folded in the one game playoff in 07 and his numbers look great cause he pitches in one of the best pitcher ball parks.

Unless someone can pull out numbers of him pitching well against AL east team at their ball parks I’m not convinced he’ll do well here.

AJ Burnett looks like another Pavano in the making. I’d perfer Jon Garland over Derek Lowe cause they’re both sinkerball ground out pitchers, but Garland is younger and looks less prone to break down.

mean while, looks like Matt Holliday is available, I say work your magic Cashman.
