Michael Kay is not bad. Have you ever listened to any other local announcers? The Rays' are terrible. Jim Palmer is senile. Most of the rest are just painfully dull, with a few notable exceptions: Rem-Dog, Blyleven, and Mark Grace come to mind. As long as Kay has Singleton or "Flash", I think he's ok. I wish Jim Kaat would return.

Yankees fans develop a real appreciation for Kay at least once a week -- when we have to listen to equally annoying but much less well informed broadcasts from another station! Then we love the guy.

For the idea that CC wants to be in the NL to hit, here is the solution….

On non-pitching days, let him be the DH… Since Matsui will no doubt be hurt at some point this year, there will be an opening. Problem Solved!!!

I hope you are kidding...and you don't want to invest 25+ into an ace and risk him getting injured by DH'ing him

saucy -

I agree with you. Maybe because we get to hear Michael Kay all the time, and he can be grating a lot of the time, I tend to get tired of him.

However, as saucy said, when the ESPN guys let Michael do play-by-play that one inning - well, he did us proud. He was able to keep people in the game and seamlessly conduct conversation/interview. It really wasn't until I saw him that night in the ESPN booth, that I realized that Kay really has talent.

Problem is, he is also grating and annoying on a daily basis - much like my kids!!!! (j/k) Seriously, the less seriously he takes himself, the better he is. And also, the less of a fan he comes across, the better he is.

Viggy, I wouldn't get all bent out of shape over it. Maybe a month or two in to the season Wang will prove he's better than CC. It's not like a #1 is going to get 10+ more starts than the #2 pitcher...

as much as i complain about Michael Kay, i don't think he's that bad. he could be annoying since i have to put up with him regularly, but when he took over the play-by-play during ESPN's coverage of the final game, it really was a breathe of fresh air. i'd probably complain about whomever was in the booth talking more than anyone...
