Doc Medich,an established arm, was dealt for Willie Randolph,a promising but unproven commodity. Others involved in that trade was Ken Brett and Doc Ellis(????)Willie was the target in that trade. And that worked out fine.

If we need outfeild? Why have we not looked at the ST. Louis? They have a ton of outfield and most of them can or have played CF.

The Ian Kennedy hatred at this site is an absolute joke. You people have such a definitive first-hand sample size to write the final book on his career. After all 12 major league starts at age 22/23 are career-defining for a pitcher. Oh what, am I forgetting how telling his "body language" and "make-up" and "post-game quotes" were when thinking it's stupid to constantly ridicule him? When he is inevitably a 4th or 5th starter on some other big league team in 2009 or in 2010 and the Yankees have received some garbage bench player or middle reliever in return, I look forward to the crocodile tears and rips of Brian Cashman that inundate this place.

Francesca again today mentioned Jose Tabata as being a Yankee prospect. He called him "Jorge Tabata." This is the second time he made this mistake, and had to be reminded by his crew that Tabata was traded to Pittsburgh for Nady & Marte.

Orlando Hudson may very well be on Cashman's radar but until other elements fall into place, Hudson is a Plan C.
Never tipping his hand, Cashman is likely to give a luke warm answer by saying only that he's food for thought.

Jimmy 27 - Am going to the bottom of the posts to answer your question without knowing whether it has been answered in between.

About Orlando Hudson - I think the guy is amazing. I will admit that I have always been a pitching/defense person as opposed to being blown over by offense, so my greatest appreciation is for what I see in the field and on the mound.

I would watch Hudson when he played for the Jays and nearly salivate. The guy is phenomenal.

About Hughes - I wouldn't give him up for love or money.

About Kennedy - I'd give him up without either!

Of course, I don't know what Hughes will turn out to be. However, I won't trade him for Peavy. Not for someone who doesn't want to be here anyway.

High velocity and high MPH showings will get the attention of anybody but good command of the strike zone and mixing a good assortment of pitches is what gets the most attention of scouts and knowledgeable fans.

Would someone please contrast Hughes and Kennedy with the pitchers the Phillies and Rays used as starters during the world series? Might be interesting to explore how they match up in terms of fastball, etc.
