For the right deal, the Cubs would have one heck of a rotation (on paper) if they got Peavy...especially if they keep Dempster.

would you people let it go, Hughes is staying here. And rightly so. Young pitchers are more valuable than young position players any day of the week.

I love how all these agents and players use the "Yankee effect" to there advantage.

If you are a position player, just put the Yankees on your list of folks and the price other people will pay goes up.

If you are a pitcher and you don't want to pitch for the Yankees (ie. Peavy) make sure you add them to your list of possibilities anyway so other teams will sweeten their deals to compete.

If you are interested in pitching for the Yankees, tell folks you are uninterested in the Yankees or say you want to pitch in the NL. That way the Yanks will overpay to convince you to play in NY.

The whole thing with Peavy adding the Yankees to his list of possible teams was complete garbage.

WHy the hell did Arod get shafted for the gold glove? Beltrae had 14 ER's with a .964 Fielding pct. and Arod had only 10 ER's with a .970 Fielding pct.

Thank god. Let's put an end to this Peavy for Hughes+Kenndy+AJax nonsense.

Sign CC and Tex, add one more pitcher through FA (Lowe/Burnett/Moose) and we're good to go. This is a winner's rotation:

CC
Wang
Joba
Pettitte
Moose/Burnett/Lowe

If Jamie Moyer can pitch until 46, then Moose can too. Come back Moose! We need you! You know you want 300 wins and a place in Cooperstown.

saucy -

Here's the gig. MLB.com has us as a captive audience just about always. So they don't need to spin stuff. Well the slow time of year, while hot stove is heating up, they don't get nearly as many hits! So of course they will try to put sexy headlines out there and reel us back in!

SJ44,

What do you think if the Yanks were to pursue David DeJesus rather than Mike Cameron?

DeJesus would be a decent replacement for the on base percentage void if the Yanks part ways with Abreu. DeJesus would add speed and defense to the Yanks.

He's more of a Johnny Damon type hitter. If the Yanks found a taker for Damon could pick up a corner outfielder, DeJesus would be a nice leadoff hitter to replace him with. Perhaps KC would then be interested in trading DeJesus for Xavier Nady and a prospect. Nady is a year older and makes about $1mil more than DeJesus.

IMO Xavier Nady, with his low obp is not a good replacement for Bobby Abreu. Add Cameron and Nady to the lineup along with Cano, and you have 3 low obp guys in important spots in the lineup.
