I'm not trying to beat a dead horse, but spending $46mil on a pitcher who potentially could be a 4th or 5th starter is why other fans think the Yankees spend money like drunken sailors.

It's not beyond Billy Beane to spin Holliday off in another move.
Beane does little by the book.

CB -

Amen to that, at least for now. Until there is a better way to evaluate the transition from Japan to the States for pitchers, which may never happen.

It's interesting to note that as good as Dice-K has been for Boston, he's nowhere near what was advertised. I believe they thought of him as a #1, #2 starter. He is a solid #3, but gives you agita along the way. And where, by the way, is the gyro ball?

I have never lambasted the Yankees over the Igawa signing. Sure, to say he disappointed is an understatement, but he disappointed as a back end guy, not a potential ace, and that means something to me, anyway.

So, now that Holliday is probably going to the A's, can we officially cross him off the spec list??????? Please? :)

"Brandon, Jean Afterman doesn't evaulate players. Re: Matsui, she got credit for establishing a relationship with the Yomiuri Giants, but not for determining his viability as a player. The point person in the Igawa scouting was Gordon Blakeley"

It seems Ken Davidoff already debunked Brandon.
