Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports has a lot of time on his hands. What else would explain ranking all 183 free agents.

But then, Jeff lives in Kansas City. What else is he going to do?

    Like C.C. I’m first!

    Thanks, Pete.

Took me 20 seconds to read it.

I stopped at #4. Those were the only ones I’m interested in.

    Maybe Lowe. Maybe.

  3. Gus G.

    “118) Carl Pavano, SP: Hehe.”

Ah, that’s funny… and this just occured to me: Glavine, Smoltz and Maddux may all retire this year. That would be one helluva Hall of Fame induction, wouldn’t it?

  4. jennifer

    And Mussina.

  5. Gus G.

Moose won’t get in the first year if those three are all on the ballot, ala Goose with Ripken and Gywnn.

  6. mel

    jennifer,

Was he on the list? I thought I heard from a reputable source that he was officially retiring this week. ;)

    jennifer,

Oops. You were talking to Gus. I thought you were talking about the FA list.

    Never mind.

  8. Gus G.

    Mel-
He was on the list. One above Pettitte…

“27) Mike Mussina, SP: While he won’t win 20 again, his improved control – 31 walks in 200 1/3 innings – makes him dangerous if he doesn’t retire.”

  9. Viva

    wow, just wow.

    Gus G.

Saw that, just scrolling down now. But I stopped when I saw Giambi in the mid-30’s and Varitek a few notches below him.

    Cow tipping!

So I am hearing a lot about AA (no, not the beverage-less club) “Arms and Aces”. I agree that the Yankees need pitching desperately.. but even if we acquire say CC +1, are offense didn’t exactly thrill me these past few years.. Yeah last year was dreadful and the year before they scored a lot of runs.. but I am really hoping to see Tex with the yanks.. and dreaming to see both Tex and a Holliday ..

What do you guys want for offensive improvements.. ?

The list is a joke if Fairy is in the top 50.

  14. Viva

    1:are:our *poof*

  15. Bronx Jeers

Hey, we only need 30% of the top ten! Welcome to the new Yankee universe! It’s the same as the old one only more expensive.

Poor Pedro got ranked lower than Paul Byrd! Ouch.

Sir Sid(116) is lower than Pavano(118) but that is only based on the 1 night of free crabs.

  16. S.o.S.27

I was reading some of the last thread and there was a discussion about Blalock being clutch. I believe he had a clutch hit in an all star game a couple years ago. That should get him the clutch label. Being that now days-IT COUNTS!!

  17. S.o.S.27

If all fails how about Casey Blake at first? I noticed Big Mouth is #100. I thought he already retired?

Out of this list. I would sign Flash and turn aroung and trade him for minor leaguers or future picks. It seemed to work the last time.

isn’t passan a noted yankee hater? not that that has anything to do with Fairy, but if you hate one team, you usually like the other. at least a little…

    Moose > Glavine

    there, i said it.

  19. saucY

okay, looked at the list. who cares where varitek is? nobody worthwile around there anyway. and you knew he’d get a few bonus points for his catching abilities…
