Melissa, if you make it easier to go it's obvious more people would go and more often, along with buying bigger ticket plans. If the stop eventually offers direct service in and out of the metro north new haven line I'd upgrade from a partial season ticket to a full, and I'm sure many other would as well...

Do you think if it wasn’t so hard to get to the stadium, more people would want to go? Or do you think people that are Yankees fans would go see a game no matter how difficult it is to get there?

James, I train in from Fairfield too, and I agree that this doesn't seem like an upgrade at all. This is very disappointing, as I was under the impression that the new station would indeed provide direct service via the New Haven line.

Pete, as someone who already frequently trains in from fairfield (the fare vs gas + parking + the pain of fighting traffic evens out), I'm wondering how much more convenient this will be than making the transfer at 125th, which isn't that big of a pain but it is far from ideal. Reading the post seems a bit confusing in regards to shuttles, transfers etc... My dream scenario was boarding a train in fairfield and being directly dropped within blocks of the stadium, any idea if that will be possible once construction is complete?

Hey Pete - I'm a big fan of your blog, but this last post, from a reader, is not accurate. The MTA said that there will be direct service on the Harlem and New Haven lines on game days - no transfer needed at 125th Street. It'll be extremely easy for Westchester residents to come to the game via train. On non-game days, only the Hudson line will stop at the Stadium.

If you have to transfer at 125th from the New Haven line it's not really much more convenient than getting off at 125th and getting on the 4.

On mlbtraderumors.com it says according to si.com that the Oakland A's have acquired Matt Holliday. It doesn't say for what yet.

Mel,

You can paraglide or parachute into the stadium. You probably won't get to watch the game from your jail cell but at least you can say that you've been to the new stadium. ;)
