My only big complaint is moving Monument Park and apparently removing the flag pole entirely. The monuments and the flag pole--which were once in the field of play--is a lot of what made Yankee Stadium unique. Why mess with that?

Carolos Gonzales would be an interesting acquisition. But what is he worth? the jury is out on whether or not he will be a good major leaguer. He's only slightly more of a sure thing than Brett Gardner.
Ian Kennedy for Carlos Gonzales? OK. More than that? Nyet.

If the Angels don't land Teixeira, it'll be to the team that offers the most money close to home-Orioles? Nationals?
Boston doesn't really need him.

Angels need hitting, not another starter with Lackey, Saunders, Weaver and Santana.

Manny will stay in LA- he's a celebrity there. Dodgers keep him and can trade Pierre, Kemp or Ethier for other parts. Andruw Jones they're stuck with. Don't see Manny's interest in the Yankees,as he'd be the #3 macho man behind Jeter and A-Rod. Manny could be a fallback option for Angels but would need to DH, or learn how to play 1st.

Big Yes and hope for Sabathia coming to the Yankees.
Yes to Burnett, worth the risk and close to his wife's home in Baltimore. Not keen on Lowe, would rather have lefty Randy Wolf, if it comes down to Lowe as option #3.

Adam Dunn can't field. In Yankee stadium, even if he didn't always try for a homerun, he'd hit 40 a year. We'd have to move Matsui, which is about as likely as the Sox being able to move Lowell to make room for Teixeira.

Would be most happy with a starting rotation of:
Sabathia
Burnett
Wang
Joba
Mussina/Pettitte

Would like the Yankees to try and pry outfielder Carlos Gonzalez, from his new team the Rockies.

If we sign Sabathia 25M?, Burnett 16M? Pettitte 11M? those three plus the players due for raises and arbitration will put the payroll at around the target of 185 million.

Then trade some of our minor league pitching surplus for young athletic position players.

signing manny to anything over 2 years would be a devastating mistake.

i don't even like the idea of cc for 6 yrs and if he asked for 7 i would refuse.

when are we going to learn that these huge contracts do not work?

we do need pitching so i am not against it totally but all the other contracts arod, jeter, posada are for too much and too long.

the yankees should be fair, maybe a little higher than other teams but blowing other offers out of the water is insane.

they never get a pitcher at the right age.i know sabathia isn't that old but even 2 yrs younger would make a mammoth difference.

i also believe the yankees will take lowe, burnett, mussina over pettitte.if we sign sabathia, burnett, mussina pettitte is out.

This will be the year to pull the trigger on top of the line free agent pitching.
2010 doesn't offer all that much . . .

Reality or fantasy, I'm really hoping the Yankees still go for Tex. Swisher/Matsui/Posada 1B just doesn't sound like a championship team.

I also wouldn't be surprised if owners were found to be conspiring more than usual to keep the prices of players down this year, and if that is what is really at the bottom of this dumb Swisher deal. Boras probably won't sign Tex before the Yankees get involved, and the idea that the Yankees already have a 1B (even if he can't hit and isn't a 1B) might keep the price down for awhile.

I think the Yanks made a great move by putting their offer to CC out early. Now other teams will have to think twice about getting involved knowing how much it will cost.

Pete - thanks for all of the pictures. Cana't wait for April.

Not true re: McAllister. A lot of scouts I know like him better than anybody except Betances in the system right now.

That's not a knock to the other guys. Its more about how highly they think of McAllister.

They love the way he goes about his business and his stuff is plenty good enough to continue his growth through the system.

Guys like Brackman, Garcia (especially Garcia) and Heredia have to show they can stay healthy.

Pure stuff? They may have a bit more than McAllister. As pitchers? None of those guys, at least not yet, are close to McAllister in the minds of a lot of scouts.

He has really moved up the ladder in terms of his likability by Yankee scouts and other scouts around baseball.

If he continues at this pace, he will probably end next season in AAA. Pretty impressive for such a young guy.

As far as what he projects to (#2, #3, etc), I don't think anybody can or should place a number on it.

Its about how he projects to the next level. Right now, he's ahead of the pace over a lot of guys in the system. Some, more hyped than him.
