    pfffffffttttttttttttttt………..LOL

  2. Buddy Biancalana

Something tells me Joba & Swisher are going to become best of friends.

  3. gayle

looks like swisher could be a ton of fun for the players and the media . Maybe giambi’s humour won’t me missed in the city afterall.

  4. Forntoso

I can see it now— Joba, Damon, Bruney, and Swisher together. Maybe even throw CC into that mix.

  5. Ed - sign CC immediately

LOL…Swisher is going to be awesome!!

  6. Jeff NJ

Swisher is Jason Giambi-Lite, without any proven steroid baggage. He’ll help provide the right intensity and motivation for others in the clubhouse over the next 4-5 years. Who besides A Rod and Joba have longer potential futures on the current roster than Swisher?

  7. Andrea - Just Say no to Manny

So since they are trying to tell us Swisher will be used primarily as a 1B, does anyone think Abreu will be back?

  8. Will to the M

    awesome…thunderbolt to short right porch!

  9. Brandon (TEIX IS NOT WORTH IT, GET CC !)..."Don't trade Robi !"

give thunderbolt more credit than that ;)

Brandon, naws..Thunderbolt deserves a bigger credit:

Posted this in the last thread before I noticed a new one:

Hypothetically, if the Yankees have at least 3 solid starters after 2009 (CC, Wang, Joba) who arent going anywhere do they opt out of the Yu Darvish sweepstakes next year(if it is next year)?

  12. number18

    i love this guy…

although he may not be the best offensively, he will contribute to a great chemistry in the clubhouse.

has a great personality a la jonny damon and seems to have his head on straight,

he is what the yankees need, a player with heart and drive, someone who has FUN… he’ll fit in really well

  13. Brandon (TEIX IS NOT WORTH IT, GET CC !)..."Don't trade Robi !"

    pffffttttt

  14. Clint

After hearing about this option, Omar will now try and sell Luis Castillo to the Tokyo Cardinals.

  15. Ed - sign CC immediately

you know what Brandon…his glove deserves the credit, and something Bobby wouldn’t do:

    http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.....7303227996

honestly, i think Swisher will play one of the corner OF depending on the Teixiera signing and whether Damon or Nady will be traded.

  16. Ed - sign CC immediately

meant to put LOL after credit..

  17. R+

    Ed,

Would you trade Brook Lopez+ fillers for Eddy Curry?

  18. Dr. J

Ed – That’s even more impressive because he did it when the score was 8-1 in the 8th inning. He could have let it go foul… shows how much passion he has for the game. He will be a great addition.

  19. Brandon (TEIX IS NOT WORTH IT, GET CC !)..."Don't trade Robi !"

I see that play and raise you this one.

    R+

HECK NO. Curry is too freaking soft.

  21. Ed - sign CC immediately

    I reraise you this one:

    :)

  22. Ed - sign CC immediately

Dr J, Yep. Swisher will definitely be a great addition to this team whether which position he plays.

(Pete, sorry for the triple post)

  23. Brandon (TEIX IS NOT WORTH IT, GET CC !)..."Don't trade Robi !"

    triple raise you !

  25. jennifer

ed- you you mean we have a first baseman that can throw home? I am speechless!

    Jennifer,

yeah pretty much. you should also check this out:

  27. zach

you people don’t get…. sure he has a great personality… but that means nothing when you hit .219, i don’t care how nice of a guy someone is when they hit like that. he’ll be bad for the yankees and you’ll all hate him by june.

  28. Brandon (TEIX IS NOT WORTH IT, GET CC !)..."Don't trade Robi !"

    http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.....6293032818

Beat that genius pause for effect

  29. Emobacca

Zach, this is 2008. Don’t use batting average to make a point.

  30. aaron empty

dude thats amaizing!!! so funny, so glad to have him on our squad!!

  31. jennifer

zach- The white soxs tried to make him into a hitter he wasn’t. that took him away from his strengths. Also as it has been pointed out on here. They also tried to change Paul O’neill from a hitter he was, to a power hitter. He came to the yankees and took off. Now I am in no way suggesting, that Nick will turn into Paul, but maybe once he gets amongst stronger hitters, and he can fade he will do better.

  32. zach

Oh please don’t blame it on the white sox. He has a 244 career average!

  33. josh

swisher at BEST, maybe reaches giambi 08 performance at 1b.. i dont like him there at all

  34. Brandon (TEIX IS NOT WORTH IT, GET CC !)..."Don't trade Robi !"

“Oh please don’t blame it on the white sox. He has a 244 career average!”

    W/ a career .354 OBP % my god should I hate this ?

  35. Soul

    Swisher = Tino
    Nady – Paul O’Neil
    Gardner – Homer Bush

  36. Ed - sign CC immediately

Brandon, you have me beat. i got nothing left. lol :)

  37. zach

No Swisher doesnt not equal Tino. Swisher=Giambi

  38. zach

    and a 354 OBP isn’t great.

  39. Brandon (TEIX IS NOT WORTH IT, GET CC !)..."Don't trade Robi !"

Swisher might actually = Paul or Brosius

check thier stats before becoming Yankees, it’s not like he has no power infact it’s quite the opposite Swish hit some clutch hits for the Whitesoxs Guillen had some type of beef w/ him whether or not that had to do w/ his drop of performance is yet to be known but it happens.

  40. Redding

Cashman knows that he needs to start finding winning players/gamers/hard nosed players like Theo/Gillick have and ignore just the stats. He needs to identify intangibles.

If we ever want to get back to winning, thats what we need to do. Swisher is a nice start.

  41. Ed - sign CC immediately

“If we ever want to get back to winning, thats what we need to do. Swisher is a nice start.”

I wonder if the new guy on the advisory board is helping Cashman. His name slipped my mind.

  42. Redding

    Livesy?

  43. Ed - sign CC immediately

Yep, that’s it. Livingston. thanks Redding.

  44. Buddy Biancalana

    It’s Bill Livesey.

  45. Ed - sign CC immediately

oh, then I dunno where I got Livingston. thanks Buddy.

  46. Buddy Biancalana

This is a good link about him from Was Watching. His son is helping the Rays big time.

    Funny or Die? Die.

I like swisher but i wouldnt mind starting him in right and going after teixera. Tex is exactly the type of direction the team wants to go in – young, amazing bat and defensively oriented. I cant see how we can ignore his presence in the FA market. Swisher can player right as well or center both positions that we dont really have covered right now. Abreu is the only decent rightfielder and there isnt much out there for center either. So put swisher in one of those two and go after tex – we certainly have the money. I wouldnt waste a dime on Lowe – I love how i read an article today with the potential yankees rotation next yr and lowe was listed in front of wang – what a joke? This guy is going to be awful in the AL – stats are never direct translations and he was destroyed in the AL before he left.

Swisher had an obp of 372 and 381 before last season. Not too shabby. And cash did what i was begging him to do for yrs – buy low!

But there is no looking around on the free agent market for players with intangibles. I cant imagine that GMs walk around looking for free agent s ignings that have the best intangibles. Pleaase some people just give cashman far too much credit. Swisher was traded for b/c cash liked giving up almost nothing to get a decent player coming out of an off yr – basically, swisher looks far better than betemit (who we never should have traded for in the first place) and Marquez. He didnt say oh swisher is a guy with great intangibles – i think ill go after him.

  49. Matt DiBari

Well, we’re not paying him to act.

  50. the shining

It’s good to see how many people are happy and optimistic about swisher joining the team. too bad we never got to utilize sexson in a brawl.

  52. AJW

Sounds like a great guy to have in the clubhouse. Should lighten up the attitude.

fined for what, hititng the ball into outter space?

  54. Dreisini

Just a few things to note about the deal:

    1) Swisher has an awesome personality
    2) We traded away Wilson “Feel the Breeze” Betemit
    3) Swisher is in the top 10 in walks since the start of the ‘06 season…and that’s without the benefit of intentional walks.
    4) Swisher’s BABIP was 51 points below his career average last season–translation: he got unlucky alot of times last year. You know who else had a ridiculously low BABIP last year? Robby Cano. Look for Swish to hit .260-.270 with a .360-.380 OBP this year.
    5) The man actually plays defense, meaning he will crash into a wall and is capable of throwing the ball around the infield accurately.
