Game-used Scranton jerseys for sale

Mike Cummings, who works for the Scranton Yankees, dropped us a line to announce that the club is selling game-used jerseys on EBay.
This from Mike: Right now we have some of the home ones up but will also be listing the roads and alternate blue jerseys as well. It will take a few months to list them all so fans should keep checking.
If they want to just buy them direct, they can send me an e-mail to Mike Cummings at mcummings@swbyankees.com for pricing information.
I would think the Shelley Duncan jersey would go fast. Wearing it would make you impervious to pain. Plus you’d have free reign to tackle your friends for no particular reason.

Every time I post something related to baseball, Pete starts a new thread!
I give up.
christ ever time pete posts a new entry i am hoping there would be “Sabathia agrees to blahblahblah”
PT Barnum was right.
I bet they are kicking themselves for not selling infield dirt from Columbus before they moved the AAA franchise to Scranton.
I think I’m going for the Igawa Jersey myself. 25 million to do subpar work sounds pretty good to me.
Unless Pavano played for Scranton this year. Of course a Pavano jersey just may turn me into Mr. Glass as well so it’s a tough decision. :undecided:
That’s really sweet of CC to not want to upstage the announcement of Pujols winning the NL MVP award (who I’m sure is another CC friend-why am I picturing Dionne Warrick, Stevie Wonder, and 30 of their closest friends singing in harmony?).
Maybe, CC will hit his first homerun in pinstripes by upstaging the announcement of the Pee Wee League MVP award tomorrow.
Well, folks, it’s been a blast. Enjoy your day.
Giants sign LHP Jeremy Affeldt 2 yr. deal Nick since your in SF any word on how much ?
reposting my comment from the post about the bullpen cause I’m curious if anyone has an answer on Coke
“So the Yankees definitely view Coke as a reliever going forward? I hadn’t been sure either way about that one.
It is a great pen though. I think the Yanks should look into selling high on Veras though. He could be a good piece to get a bigger deal done and to be honest, I just don’t trust him all that much, still. I think he started to show his true colors towards the end of the season. Bruney is much better and he is who I want to see in the 8th in 2009.”
Brandon, I haven’t been listening to the radio this morning, so no. The local paper site just says “Terms were not immediately available. He earned $3 million last year in his lone season for Cincinnati.”
oh, and congrats to Pujols. The writers made the right choice – the only choice, really. Anyone but Albert winning this would have been a grave injustice. What an amazing season he had. Any baseball fan has to appreciate it.
and, I hadn’t even thought about the fact that CC won’t make a move until after the MVP’s are announced so as not to steal their thunder. Thoughtful guy! In the previous post I mentioned the Yanks possibly putting a deadline on his decision and was heartened to read that the prevailing sentiment is that they won’t do that. In general I am nervous about Hank mucking things up here and hope he continues to stay out of the public eye and away from the press as much as possible, until CC (hopefully) signs.
Hmmm –
Maybe CC waited because he had an outside chance of being MVP? j/k
I suppose he’s going to wait for the AL MVP, too. When is that going to be announced, tomorrow?
Also the news about Manny possibly being suspended by the Red Sox. Correct me if I am wrong but isn’t that sort of old news. I remember and of course it may be mis-remebering that when he went down with the knee issue there was talk that if he didnt go in the lineup on Saturday they were going to suspend him.
Ok found an article from the NY Times that pretty much says if he didn’t play they were going to disipline him so how is pedro Gomez breaking news here/
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/27/sports/baseball/27curry.html?pagewanted=print
The EBay listing has Chase Wright and Dave Robertson sharing a jersey?
Must be the economy.
You know, I think back to last year and a lot of the news surrounding the Yankees trading for X player was very loud day-to-day. Is the silence since the initial story released about the offer good news? Is it a sign that there might be some progression between the agent and the other teams? Would the counter/other offers be made as public? It’s curious considering how many teams were supposedly coveting Sabathia as reported by the media.
I would imagine that this is all a domino effect situation. Once Sabathia signs, the market is set and other players will start to sign. The question is, how long will it be before the other members of the union question the validity of the offer and the player’s desire to take the best financial deal.
“I remember and of course it may be mis-remebering that when he went down with the knee issue there was talk that if he didnt go in the lineup on Saturday they were going to suspend him.”
That sounds right. After he forgot which knee he was feigning injury on, they MRI’d ‘em both, found zippidity doo da, and told him to play or be suspended.
this may be a silly question, but is the game used jersey money going to charity?
Ok, which one of you posted the bid for Cody Ransom’s Jersey?
Just an Igawa shirt and a cold beer makes me a happy clam.
As far as pitchers go, everybody is waiting on Sabathia. Once he signs, the market will be set, and everybody else will work off his number.
That’s how it works in free agency.
As far as position players go, since Boras has Tex and everybody knows he won’t be signing quickly, that market may take on a life of its own a little quicker. Even though the position players available aren’t as highly sought after as the pitchers at this time.
“Maybe, CC will hit his first homerun in pinstripes by upstaging the announcement of the Pee Wee League MVP award tomorrow.”
How can a team from the “Peewee League” be a champ, against the real pros?......and how come you’re here posting instead of being out there playing Peewee? because I’m sure is easy right?
Think how much a game-used pinstriped CC jersey could fetch.
Not to mention the number of people for whom it could provide shelter.
i just remember to the “kris benson/mets” year and how it basically ruined the free agency pitching market that year.
2005 let to some bad decisions.
Nick, did you add yourself to that facebook listing? I see a Nick from SF, so I was wondering if its you.
Scranton recycled its numbers, so Robertson and Wright both wore 4. Edwar Ramirez and Matt Carson wore #36. Whenever a new player showed up he usually got the number of the guy he replaced.
When Scranton played in Allentown the first time there was a big stink from the Lehigh Valley people about the Yankees using numbers that were retired in New York. Ransom wore 3, Nick Green had 5, nobody wore 7
Hopefully, CC agrees to a contract with the Yankees before next week, I mean, $140 million, how much do you need to think?
Anybody has any idea when he’s thinking about making his decision?
“Anybody has any idea when he’s thinking about making his decision?”
He’s going to give some Cali teams a shot to compete first.
Affeldt’s deal = 2 years/$8M
Not bad for the Giants.
Brandon,
the Affeldt deal was 2 years, $16 million.
...and Fredo beat me to it. lol
“He’s going to give some Cali teams a shot to compete first.”
Well, hopefully, they wont come close to the Yankees deal.
This is going to be a very unpopular thing to say, but Pujols should not have won the MVP award. The MVP award should go to the player who did the most to get his team to the playoffs. Last time I checked, STL didn’t make it.
MLB needs to add another award. Call it whatever you want. Most Productive Player. Player with the Best Stats. I don’t care. This award can be given to the stud with the best stats. Leave the MVP for the playoff bound players.
The people who buy this kind of stuff always struck me as having more in common with comic book trekies than actual baseball fans. I don’t get it.
Ed: no, that is not me. Either there is another LoHud-reading Yankee fan named Nick here in San Francisco or … I dare not speculate.
Laura you just heard that on TV. Come on, use your own information
—He’s going to give some Cali teams a shot to compete first.
How long is he planning on waiting? Long enough for them to rob a bank so that they have the money? LAD, SF, LAA – they can’t match $140mil. Not if they plan on addressing their other needs as well.
Nick, lol oh okay…gotcha!
—Laura you just heard that on TV. Come on, use your own information
Aaron, first of all, I’m at work so I’m 100% sure I didn’t hear that on TV. Second, I’ve been complaining about the MVP award for years!!!! I don’t need to steal anyone else’s idea, particularly one that is to obvious. They need another award. Why they haven’t created one yet is beyond me.
“LAD, SF, LAA – they can’t match $140mil. Not if they plan on addressing their other needs as well.”
True, but they probably won’t need to match.
Please do me a favor, Ed, and check out that person’s profile. Is it something that looks like it was just created, or does it look like it belongs to a real person who’s been around for a while?
It should be easy to figure out if it’s legit.
—True, but they probably won’t need to match.
No, but they’ve got to come close. It will be interesting to see. What if LAA comes in at 100mil? Does CC leave 40mil on the table just so that he can be in CA? I wouldn’t, but he might. I’m anxiously awaiting his decision.
Laura,
I, believe, that the MVP award is directed to expose the “Most Valuable Player”, as in valuable. I think is better to detache MVP to a particualar team from the equation. Pujols is the general MVP, no matter in what team he’s in.
This is my opinion not intended to offend you.
Nick,
I can’t access the profile if I’m not added to his friends list. Although it does seem legit, with a real pic with a real background scenery. Not photoshopped at all.
Thanks, Ed. I’m not on Facebook at all, so I don’t think I can look.

No, I don’t believe he would. Yanks offer is $23.3M per year. If one of those teams came in at 6 years/$127M or roughly $21.3M per season, about 92% of what the Yankees offered, then I’d say they’re in the game.
Laura,
Pujols did everything possible to get his team to the playoffs, including hitting .398 in August. If the players were switched, the Phillies would have clinched in early September, or maybe if Howard hit at all in any month other than July and September. Or maybe if the two players who were better than Howard on his OWN TEAM, Utley and Rollins were on the Cards, they’d have won too.
Baseball is not like basketball, one player can not carry a whole team. Pujols was rewarded accordingly for having the best season and being the most valuable player in the league.

Not to worry; I’m not offended. Hey, I’m the first one to admit that AP is a monster stud, who is probably the best player out there right now. But the fact remains that his team didn’t make the playoffs. How valuable was he really since they didn’t get to the postseason? I guess it depends on how you assess value and what you think the award should stand for.

Laura, thanks to people like Bill James and many others, we have stats today to value how valuable a player was whether or not his team made the playoffs. Check out VORP, Win Shares and defense statistics like Dewan’s +/- and zone rating among others that show Pujols was more valuable.

But would it be such a bad thing to add another award? Get rid of the ambiguity and the debate by just adding another category. MLB can most certainly afford it.
I’d be shocked if CC turns down the Yankees. If one of the Calif teams comes close NY is just going to offer something like six years 150. Which would mean the Calif teams would have to offer nearly 6/140 to come close.
They can offer CC sll they want still don’t think it’ll matter unless CC really doesn’t want to play in NY. The Yankees are obviously prepared to blow every other team out the water if they’re starting at 6/140.

This is the scary part. If you combine CC desire to play a team in the west and 2 million cut per/year, they in it.
Well Laura they do have the Hank Aaron award which goes to the best offensive player I believe.
See the problem lies in the word “valuable”. People take it took literally when the name of the trophy should have just been NL Best Player.
