That was nice of Alex to call him.

Swisher seems like a cool guy, will be good in the clubhouse. I just hope he doesn’t lose his personality like so many do when they come to the Yankees. Stay true to who you are and you should be good.

Maybe I should amend that statement to say “possibly major league ready” prospects at the positions.

Someone tell me Iâ€™m wrong, but I feel horribly concerned that the organization has a total lack of good position player prospects.

Montero is going to be just fine….in about two years. He also needs to learn his position…in the Minors. Have you ever seen him, or any other minor leaguer in the system play?

I said his hitting is advance not for a catcher but for a player his age. Which is 18. Not too many 18 y/o put up those kinds of numbers. He also had a lot of doubles.

.326/.376/.491 is great but I wouldn’t call that “advanced,” even if he is a catcher. Let’s see him have a full AA season before we start calling him “advanced.” He’s a great prospect but that hitting line isn’t “advanced” quite yet, IMO.

A good part of his game has to be bunting for hits. Brett Butler, Matty Alou, Maury Wills and Willie Wilson made a great career out of bunting for his. They all had long careers htting .285-.300, using bunts as a major weapon.”

His OBP was 55 points higher than his BA; that’s a pretty good differential, IMO. He was walking enough, the hits just weren’t falling, so of course his numbers look shoddy. Just because he didn’t come out swinging like an All-Star in his first Major League stint doesn’t mean he should abandon his patient approach (.389 OBP in the minors) and start trying to get bunt singles. He’s got only 127 ABs under his belt in the Majors. Let’s see where he’s at after 300 ABs this year.
