Earth to Pete, Earth to Pete - nobody thinks the yankees will get Texeira "on the cheap". I don't know where that idiocy was born but it is a fallacy, a strawman argument at best. Yes, every Yankee fan with a pulse wants the Yankees to use a portion of their league leading (and now luxury tax exempt) revenues to sign Mark Texeira AND CC Sabathia. They can afford it with no problem, and as such, should put their money to work for them.

However, there is no reason to believe he will not be expensive.

Oh and the Yankees COULD obtain any player in trade for a price.

But in Pete's world he's the smartest sports guy on the planet and even a contrary thought draws his ire and rebuke.

Selfishly I would like to see Dejesus play for the bombers, I went to high school with him and played basketball with him growing up, kid has a nasty jump shoot. He's a super nice guy, hard worker, and really is someone who deserves what he is getting in life.

PS pete I wouldnt really consider him a brooklynite, he was practically raised in manalapan, nj.

DeJesus is a solid player but we already have one Johnny Damon. I'd much rather have Joey Gathright. He can bring speed that the Yankees have been missing for years.

Wow how the "mighty" have fallen. Bye bye now Coco. Perhaps your arrogant batting face and mound charging scenarios will play well in the heartland.

Folks can keep joking about Abreu but next season when we don't have his bat in the line-up or his arm in the outfield it will be the other teams that are laughing.

I'd like the rotation to be:

CC
Wang
Burnett
Chamberlain
Hughes

Or flip flop Joba/Hughes.

You know who else would make great closers? CC, Johan, Beckett, Lester (I could go on but I think you get my point).

That would be a complete waste of arguably the best pitching talent the Yankees have. Would you make Hughes or Kennedy a bullpen guy? Would you make David Price a bullpen guy? No. The only reason Rivera switched to the pen was because he couldn't mix enough pitches to be successful in facing the lineup multiple times. Chamberlain has proven at every level now that he can do just that. Using Joba Chamberlain as a reliever is not a forward thinking or good long term strategy for the Yankees.
