You could sesnse the way he tipped his cap to the fans when he won the 20th game that this was to be his final year.
He went out on his terms and he can’t be faulted for that.

Yes, Pedro was a better pitcher than Moose, but I’d be curious to see how many wins Moose would have in his career is he spent the first five years of his career in the NL (ala’ Pedro), his entire career in the NL and pitching into his mid-40s (like Maddux), or 8 years in the NL West (Johnson). Those three may have had better “stuff” than Moose, but to consistently have season after season with at or above 200+ innings pitched and one poor season in 18 years in the AL East speaks volumes.

He deserves to be in the Hall- let us hope he doesn’t become the Bert Blyleven of his generation.

I’m as big a Moose fan as there is, but there really isn’t a comparison between them. Pedro Martinez is the most dominant starting pitcher of all time. Regardless of whether like him personally I don’t see how you could deny that.

Say whatever you want to about, Pedro Martinez, bottom line is, If he(Pedro Martinez) were to retire this year, no way in H*** the Moooose gets in before Pedro, or even, Johnson. So, your so call performance stats, put it some place else. Haha.

Mussina was, however, able to perform under the so-called biggest pressure city in the world (unlike Randy). Not to mention that he went out there everyday and did his job quietly, and owned up to his actions (unlike Pedro)
