I like Punto option. He is a good guy to have come off the bench to spell Jeter, Cano and Arod. He is also the type of player who can pinch run (had double digit stolen bases past serveral years) and he can play small ball. If he can play a little outfield so much the better. I see that he has not played first base. That leaves open the quetion who our back up first baseman is? We need to have more than Swisher for first. Nady can play some first but he is more a corner outfielder. Miranda may not be ready so I think we need to find an option who can spell Swisher and perhaps play elsewhere to give us more bench flexibility.

Short of moving on Tex to play first (making Swisher an outfielder option) we need to have another bat for the bench. Perhaps we can find a catcher-first baseman?

CB – Thanks for your response (re: opt-outs) about three threads back. It’s hard keeping up.

You’ve convinced me. If a player can get max money PLUS an opt-out, then he should go for it. Otherwise, it’s an unnecessary concession to the club (I believe that captures your argument).

As I stated in a previous thread, I’m hoping that the specter of fat joke headlines in the Post and Daily News will dissuade Sabbathia. The Yankee contract offer is clearly superior, so the issue isn’t “how much,” but “where.”

Like the “Believes” word.Posada to Cashman “Is” our Catcher.But Cashman “Believes” Cano to be our second baseman.And that coupled with Cashmasn saying he’s interested in Punto as a utility infielder is kinda interesting.

Something is gonna go down hopefully soon.Because I “Believe” Cashman gonna make a deal.

OK. Unfortunately this is not at all unusual but it certainly is a bit cruel. You don’t have to repeat EVERY thing Cash says. No point in re-visiting that can of worms if you know who I’m talking about.

If we lose out on 2 aces in two years?
