Pete, I wasn't there to judge Ned's words, and I don't know what his personal style is, but just because Ned Colletti hasn't talked to the Yankees doesn't mean that someone who works in his office hasn't had preliminary trade talks with Cashman or someone who works for him.

Mad Prince,
Thanks bro. I keep refreshing espn, fox sports and Pete waiting for a big fish to be had. Hope Cash can make a big splash this week. Be early christmans present.

Not sure about a 10 year deal for Jesus. I would only go 6 with a 7th year team option. Beggers cant be choosers i guess.

The Cano haters out there should check their stats again before they try to run him out of town. His OBP last year was near .300 at .305 not sub .300. His career OBP is .335. His career slg% is .468. Kemp's are .342 and .474 respectively.

My 2 cents are that they are very similar offensively. Both have the potential to hit 20+ home runs while batting well north of .300. While Kemp walked more than Cano, he struck out 153 times to Cano's 65. Neither one is going to lead the league in OBP.

That said I think for something to be over rated it has to be rated highly. Batting average is not rated very highly so it is almost impossible to be overrated. In the mean time every thinks they are ready to be a GM because they can locate the OBP column on the stats chart. Given that, OBP is the second most over rated stat (after saves). I think its an important stat, but it only tells part of the story. Just like slg% tells part of the story. Adding them together does not complete it. Case in point, Giambi. He once again had a decent OPS, yet any one with eyes and a tv knows he was a weak spot in the lineup. He can put in one "quality at bat" after another, but the man didn't hit. Cano is a friggin' hitter. When you put the ball in play you increase the odds that something positive is going to happen. When you walk you go stand on first base.

Now Nolan Ryan.. lol love it.

I wish other teams around the league thought like some people here.. maybe we could get something decent for him that's ready for the majors.

Sos,

Don't worry man, we'll help you through this.

Rumor has it we have signed Jesus Christ to a 10 year contract with a mutual option for the 11th.

Of course we had to pass on Mephastophilis and Beezlebub, both of whom were insisting on lifetime contracts.
