Ben Sheets' most similar / comparable pitcher statistically, according to BRef is AJ Burnett....
And at less than half of the price, it sounds like a good deal

""Honestly . .enough of CC . .he doesn’t want to play for us . . So for the price of one CC . .you can get Sheets Burnett and Lowe""

Ya but which one of those would be good enough or able to start game 1 or 7 of Post season?

"It pressures CC Sabathia and protects the Yankees should Sabathia wimp out and sign elsewhere. Plus they need at least two starters."

Key words: wimp out and sign elsewhere

That's right. If CC does opt to sign else where, he is wimping out from the big stage because no stage is greater than New York.

Would Sheets & Cash agree on two or years, in either case with a team option for one more year? If he's healthy before the option year hits, just give him an extension for a couple more. We've heard 'when healthy he can really pitch' in these parts before, so I'm hoping his arm's not a time bomb.

Would Cash take CC, Sheets and Tex, then offer a year-to-year deal to Pettitte instead of going for 3 new big-name FA pitchers and no Tex? Keeping in mind that trades can be made to fill in any other gaps if the opportunity is right.

Leave CC's offer there but on the condition that we're gonna go pillage and plunder the other top free agents with top dollar blow away offers, and when they sign and the money's gone, CC's stuck back in Old Milwaukee...

Burnett
Sheets
Texiera

Do it!

I would LOVE Sheets. Is there a chance he might be the next Pavano? Sure, but he has much better stuff than Pavano did, and I'd be willing to take another chance. If he's healthy, he's a stud.
