Re: More personal attacks from Green Barrette.

There's nothing wrong with being open-minded. Thought requires you to change your mind. No thoughts and your mind never changes.

I will say this. Since day one I've wanted CC and Burnett here. And as far as the offense goes I've always preferred Manny to Tex.

I may be persuaded on a given player but at least I provide reasons why or why not.

And what do you do Green Barrette?

Nothing special.

Listening to baseball stuff on XM this morning while driving to LI, the take on the Teixeira situation was that (a) the Red Sox are not out, but have basically drawn a line in the sand; (b) the Orioles should try to get him, BUT even though they may have the money, they really can't afford to pay one player almost half of what the team is worth and if he gets injured it would hurt the franchise for years to come; (c) the Nats REALLY want him, but if Teixeira goes there he is pretty much saying he's totally a money guy; (d) even though there have not been any reports that the Yankees have many any offer, and Cash has said they haven't, it's still being reported the Yankees are in the mix.

They're ALL money guys, basically, but none of them would ever want to admit to that; it's too crass. They said the Red Sox are all about drama, but I think the drama they wanted was to fly out of Texas with a signed contract. Most people seem to think Teixeira will make a decision before Christmas, though, so hopefully the suspense will be ending soon and life can go on.

Why would the O's spend 180-200 million dollars on a player for 8-10 years. They have Matt Wieters who will be the "face" of the team for the next decade or so. They also have Markakis, who is a budding (super) star.

If anything they should be trading away players like Huff, Robers, and everybody else on the team for younger players.

Y's guy: It is kind of surprising to see the O's willingly take such a backseat to the Nationals in this Teixeira derby, huh? Especially since Markakis seems pretty noncommittal about signing a long term deal. You wouldn't think Angelos' ego could handle being upstaged by the lowly Nats, nor that he could resist a chance to stick it to Boston and the Yankees.

Doreen: Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't notice what shoes they were wearing. Realizing I didn't even take a cursory glance at their footwear made me feel...almost inadequate as a woman, lol. And at least it was them who mentioned their outfits rather than some sportswriter with way too much time on his hands. I don't think what they wore was a big deal either way, but maybe they feared getting crucified by the style pages and figured they'd cut them off at the pass :)

once again i have to say that i just cant believe the O's arent in there leading the charge for thier hometown boy. sure markakis is great and they have young talent, but they have no 'face.' they couldnt possibly pick a better guy to become mr. oriole for the next 8 years. but they made a lame attempt to sign him and dont seem to be all that interested.

i hope tex goes to the nats and they put it together with tex leading them. that would really stick it to the O's and angelos.
