I will take another rebuilding season if they send me Jennifer Aniston. I promise I won't even watch one game.

Vinny: I really have never seen a player of his caliber been this much debated about.

As for Tex, I know that pitching and defense usually win a game, however the Red Sox would be that much more stronger with him. That's my main concern and worry about letting him go. I am happy with Swisher at 1st. Happier than I was about Giambi.
I'm hoping the Nats and O's step up and really want to show their teams they care about winning and take Tex away from the Sox.

Katie:

completely understand your position. Have never seen a player who had so many extreme pros/cons. Not to this level. As others have mentioned (SJ44 etc) it may be best for NYY to wait on a january. Or even a July, David Justice type of deal.

per Manny. I don't expect he would sign for 2 years/option. If he is their target they should offer 2 years/60 million. It is better then 3 years/75 million. Whichever the case, i would definitely not offer him 4 years. No way.

Roch Kubatko of MASN Online learned from multiple sources that the Nationals "have sweetened their proposal to Teixeira, offering him an eight-year deal worth $178-184MM." He's been told they're willing to go nine years and there's been talk of ten.

CB, from what I have read, the Nats have the lowest offer on the table. (but who really knows what has been offered)

They expect to not even win. To them it was showing their fans that they are serious about winning.

The one case where I would expect Tex to get an opt out however would be if he signed with the Nats. That would be the kind of extenuating circumstance that have led players to demand opt outs in the past.

Yes Vinny- B. Both players are a bit of a risk, but ultimately I don't think the Yankees will offer either 1.

If they were to offer Manny a contract, why not offer him a 2 year deal with an option for a 3rd year?

"Manny can carry a team on his back. Manny can destroy a team too. (Like I said before, regarding Manny, I am not for neither against, there is just too many pros and cons for me to take a side)"

yup. You're right. It is taking a chance. In which case, they may have to eat salary on last 2 years of his contract (he would be fine in year 1)

conversely, when i see Tex's contract offer, it is a repeat of the issues facing the post-dynasty Yankees. A Jason Giambi contract redux. pass.

Fox Sports News take a poll, 55% suggested Wang should get a new Agent. Wang Should change agent after last year arbitration.

"Boras would not sign anything that doesn’t have an opt-out clause"

Boras has dozens and dozens of clients and many of the top players in the game.

As far as I know her has only had an opt out put in two player contracts - Alex's and JD Drew.

Out of hundreds of deals he's done that's it as far as I know of.

And in total the only major players that have had an opt out in their contracts have been Alex, JD Drew, AJ Burnett and now CC.

In Alex's case it was ostensibly put in because he was signing such a long deal at such an early age. For CC it's location. For Burnett it was also location as it was to get him to agree to go to Canada as I recall.

It's difficult to say opt outs will be some kind of trend when only 4 major players in recent years have even had one in their contracts.

Tex might get one but I see no particular reason to feel that the probability of that happening is high.
