Pettitte is going out like Tiki Barber. Both were guys I looked up to and had a lot of respect for and they left me with a feeling of disappointment.

Bringing Sheets, Wolf or O. Perez in would be great. Trading for Jonathan Sanchez would be a great move as well if we could give them Swisher, Nady or Matsui. I’m really big on signing Ben Sheets though. I know he is a bit of a risk but he was only hurt 2005-2007 seasons and besides that was one of the biggest work horses in all of baseball! He has ace stuff and started the All-Star game THIS YEAR in Yankee Stadium. This guy is way too talented to still be on the market. He’s not getting a big deal or he’d be signed already. Pavano got a deal before him for God sake. I know his back and everything else is a risk but we could bring him in and still have Hughes, Aceves, Coke and others to fill in if/when someone gets hurt. Instead of shying away from him because Burnett is already a risk I think we should TAKE ADVANTAGE of the bad market and sign this guy. Bring him in for a 2 year deal or something like that. Maybe a 3rd year option and solidify the rotation for years to come. CC, AJ, Wang, Sheets, Joba with Hughes, Aceves, Coke and others in the wings would be absolutely ridiculous. PLEASE CA$HMAN SIGN BEN SHEETS!!!

I too can’t understand why Pettitte turns down $10M at the tail end of his carrier.
He must want the Yankees to pay his legal costs from the D.C. hearings of last year.
What No. 4-5 starter tops $10M ?

I don’t believe that I’ll ever stop laughing over the fact that John Henry, Larry Lucchino, and Theo Epstein wasted a flight to Texas in December.
They’ve devoted their time to signing scrap heap types ever since. As usual, their delusional fans will say the Socks are World Series bound the first time they can string together 4 wins in a row. Sooooooo hilarious.

As Michael Kay would say: “SEE YA!” Nice knowing you Andy. Thanks for the good times in the late 1990s (even though you never made it easy). For you not to accept $10 million to pitch (every 5th day – weather permitting) for this team is unbelievable. Ten years ago you may have had the clout to hold out, but certainly not now. This is particularly unsettling to me since the Yankees stood behind you in your difficult times. You don’t even deserve $10 million. Business is business, and you’re allowing your foolish pride to influence you. Say hi to your old friend Roger when you get the chance and have fun in LA.
