I believe the quote from Torre as to why the Yankees didn't bunt against Schilling in 04' on his bad ankle was that "we don't play that way!"

What is this Little League???

Joey Four Rings should've been fired on the spot!

or let's go for broke and put Melky and a mid level prospect in the deal and get Sanchez and Rowand. Could work out for both teams.

Nady for a Jonathan Sanchez would be good, but would the Giants do that? I still keep to the Nady and Kennedy for Aaron Rowand idea. I really could dig an outfield of Damon, Rowand, and Swisher, with Gardner as a backup. Can we get a reliever for Melky?

I'm sorry I never really liked Giambi, and when we needed him or the roster spot he refused to take a minor league assignment. I'd rather have Manny than Giambi anyday...Sorry glad he's gone, he should take Pettite with him..

Unless he's about to die or something, Pettitte's a must-sign.

bottom line

That makes me sick! It was a wet rainy night, and not a single hitter bunted? I didn't get it at the time, and I still don't. Does Torre think that Terry wouldn't have bunted on a Yankee pitcher in the same situation? I think Joe was just showing how big he could be, he was cocky he wanted to show that we can still beat you and didn't have to 'resort' to bunting.

I tried to wipe that series out of my mind, but did a single hitter bunt? I don't think anyone did.

“Obviously anyone else would say, ‘I’ll go wherever I want to,’ because people want to try to get the most money,” Pettitte said before a Yankees-Angels game in Anaheim, Calif. “But, I mean, I’m not going anywhere, you know what I’m saying? The Yankees know me enough, it’s not like I’m going to hold out. I guess if I had spent all my money or whatever, it might be different. But it’s not about that, really, anymore.

Not to beat a dead horse. Oh really Mr. Pettitte. It isn't about money? So exactly why haven't you signed with the Yankees? Why didn't you say at the time you were looking for a similar contract?

3). Torre also managed abominably, for instance, never ran on Wakefield.

Exactly. Worse yer, they didn't bunt on a crippled Schilling-- one of the most odious applications of "sportsmanship" ever. Yanks would have won the series had Joey Cora (now that's gritty) been in the lineup
