While I can’t stand smugness in people (well, maybe just other people…) there are times when I just can’t help buy roll it out. And this is one of the times, with respect to Barry Bonds. As with Clemens, I was not here for any Bonds chatter, so this couldn’t be personal even if I wanted it to. But for all the posters I fought with on other forums, HELLL-OOOOO!!!!!

I’m not a breakfast eater, never have been. I think it’s because I’m a total night owl and probably eat dinner when most people are getting ready to go to bed! So by the time morning rolls around I’m still full.

Well said Captain Clutch.

Very few in the media other than Pete, most of the NY papers, Kay, and Buster Olney have gotten this one right. For the other excuse makers talking about the book being in the third person, it doesn’t matter, Torre’s name is on it; he’s responsible for everything in it. As Olney pointed out in his article yesterday, Torre criticized David Wells for the same exact thing (trying to hide behind a ghostwriter).

Talk about being a hypocrite!

Personally I would like to see jobas stike out ratio come down just a bit, not alot but a bit. Strike out pitchers seem to throw a lot of pitches. It would be in his interest not to have this happen. Now with guys in scoring position there is a need to bear down and get the strike out. Overall I prefer the poorly hit ball in play putout. Saves wear and tear. Not as exiciting though.

If Joba pitches 160 innings, he will have nearly 200 k’s. Not bad for a #4 starter or #5 starter. This starting staff could have three pitchers with 200 or more K’s. Imagine how good this staff is good. Plus the Yankees have Hughes and if Kennedy figures out how to pitch in the bigs….two major league starting pitchers sitting in the wings.
This team is loaded. Player for player there is no team as stocked as them.

I really don’t understand why Torre would write this book. For what a couple of million dollars??!! For him to say anything negative about George is absolutely disgusting. Not only because of what George did for him but I would like to see what Torre is like at George’s age. If I was in the Dodgers organization I would watch myself. I could only imagine what he will have to say about that team in 5 years in “Torre does Hollywood”. Let me guess how cheap they are, how Andruw Jones ate all of Calif. Everyone says that Torre would always say whatever happens in the club house stays there. Well I guess not for the right price. And everyone thought he was the great Uncle Joe…..
