Only real short term downside of ditching Wright is that we likely have no LH reliever in waiting in AAA. But Coke of
course could step in, and there’s no shortage of starters to back fill, so it’s no big deal. And Greinke could get returned, so I guess it all makes good sense. Giese does appear to have value at the majors level right now, and that allows us to keep Aceves stretched out as a fill-in starter.

Since most rosters are pretty full right now, Chase could slip through waivers, and can be outrighted. But a couple of clubs are short of close to ML ready starters for depth purposes (Brewers, maybe SD, KC, Hou, etc.) so he’s got a shot.

Because Chase has not fit in the Yankees plan says nothing about his long term prospects in the game. Scott Patterson was designated while a middle reliever in AAA, and HE got picked up in season and sent right to the big leauges. Make fun of the Padres pitching depth if you want, but I bet there are two whole teams (Scranton and Trenton) worth of pitchers that wouldn’t mind that trade-off.

Chase Wright- left handed starter with a very good track record in the high minors and is just 26? He will get picked up.

there’s just so much depth in their minor leagues right now that wright was expendable.what use is juan miranda on the roster with tex and swisher to back that position up though?

I guess this is another one of those times when the bests interests of 2009 trump the long term. Giese is mor elikely to help the Yanks as a long reliever/emergency starter, but Wright likely to win more games in MLB over the next 4-5 years.

I don’t see any reason to deal Nady unless it’s for a major upgrade in CF. Who can they get with him as the centerpiece? Surely not Matt Kemp.

All depends. I’d like to see Skip Schumaker from St. Louis playing center field in NY. St. Louis needs pitching more than an outfielder, though. They already have two minor leaguers ready to go. San Diego hasn’t got anybody to help, and neither does SF or Arizona, because they aren’t eating any of Rowand’s contract, and, he’s basically a corner outfielder playing center field.
