I usually like Kim Jones, but regarding Selena Roberts she became very sanctimonious. Listening to her and Evan, you would have thought that by outting A-Rod Selena Roberts was doing some great service for humanity. Roberts was not motivated by a desire to clean up baseball. If so, she would have names other players on the lists. Selena's agenda is to gather as much salacious material to spark interest in her book. Like all other reporters, she is trying to get an edge and advance her career. The irony is these so-called journalists are no different from the players who take sterroids or people on Wall Street who do anything to get an edge . Some of these so called journal are no better than pararazzi.

Selena never explained how she knew that A- Rod was at the gym. I doubt if Alex sends her a copy of his daily planner. I doubt if Kim wants somebody to show up at her gym and ask her questions. She would probably label it as stalking and an invasion of her privacy. So spare me the from the media's double standard. The bottomline is let's not put Selena Roberts on a pedestal as if she found a cure for cancer. If I were A- Rod would hire a Private Investigator and document the stalking by the media..

Hey Pete,

I'd rather have Congress deal with Arod than approve a trillion dollar spending package that includes more pork than you could ever imagine!! Water parks, dog walking parks, nature trails, frisbee golf courses, study of honeybees, new federal buildings, prostitute shelters, STD prevention, DTV conversion..... and hidden within the bill socialized health care....or rationing of health care by government bureaucrats.

The congress and senate aren't too good at their day jobs. Maybe they should focus on steroids in baseball and leave the free market alone!!!

PA are you kidding me? People want to "kill the messenger" because THE MESSENGER IS WRITING A BOOK ABOUT A-ROD. Have you not caught on to this? Do you think her breaking this story has NOTHING to do with her wanting to create buzz and drive her book sales? Give me a break. This woman did not have the "good of baseball" in her sights, or whatever you want to call it. She has dollar signs in her sights and that's about it. Don't you see how everyone is already talking about her? This lady is loving everything that has unfolded.

Pete, Ms. Roberts left behind a good deal of ill will by creating a body of work at the Times regarding the Yankees that at least made it appear she had a personal agenda concerning the Yankees. You can't lift this out of that historic context. The messenger was already viewed as suspect, that is, before this report was issued. Please don't insult most of us who remember that by implying we are viewing her worth in the context of this story only; her apparent self serving motives and the actions they apparently lead to notwithstanding.

Additionally, I find the use of leaked grand jury material offensive as a citizen and as a lawyer. I understand the need to maintain those materials under seal conflicts with the constitutional freedoms the press enjoys and that we a free people depend upon. The fact that parties profit from such behavior however is to me at best disgusting. The fact that members of the press won't even acknowledge the moral quandary such a source of information poses does them no credit in the court of public opinion. It's one of the reason why dispersed, diffuse internet journalism is replacing the published, physically tangible newspaper as the peoples' preferred source of information.

You go Pro Publica! You're the only real place to get news.

"Let the leagues handle it and have Congress deal with — oh, I don’t know — war, terrorism, the economy and education. What A-Rod did in 2003 is not really a pressing matter. "

That would be nice except for one problem.. The leagues won't handle it. Remember it took congress to get involved for them to start even considering drug testing in the majors.

And please this is Congress, this is what they do. They don't work for you, they don't work for the american people, they work for themselves, they work to get re-elected.

Saucy,

Thanks for the link. You guys should read that if you haven't. The book sounds ridiculous.

Is this really the work of a serious sports journalist?
