Keep them both Cashman unless the brave drop your jaw over a deal. The yankees need this depth and if they can all stay healthy Girardi could easily do something like this to keep everyone fresh.
LF CF RF DH 1B Playing Time
Damon 70% 20% / 90%
Gardner/Cab 70% / 70%
Nady 65% 20% / 85%
Swicher 10% 10% 35% 20% 5% / 80%
Matsui 20% 60% / 80%

Keep em both Cash!

Why trade either of them? Matsui can't play anymore, Cabrera got an arbitration raise! Hows that work? Gardner cant hit a ball as far as Damon can throw one. We need Swisher and Nady, cheap options. Isn't Jackson coming in 2010?

"I look at Nady as the 3rd best hitter in the lineup, and would not be surprised about .300/25/100 for him in 2009."

No way dude. Tex, ARod, Matsui, Posada, Jeter, and Damon are all better than Nady. Swisher probably is as well. Cano might also be better. So, Nady is more like, at best the 7th best hitter in the lineup but probably more like the 8th or 9th best hitter. Nady is the guy that should be whenever Gardner or Melky are going to start at CF.

This trade idea would make more sense if Adam Dunn was still available. Dunn would have caused the same outfield/DH clog as Nady does, but at least Dunn could switch over to DH in 2010, which is where he is best suited and way superior to Matsuis and Nadys and Swishers and Damons. But now that he is off the table, I agree that it is best to keep Nady and Swisher. Hopefully, the Yanks will start having some better drafts and maybe use some minor league arms or major league relievers to trade for some position player prospects.

I look at Nady as the 3rd best hitter in the lineup, and would not be surprised about .300/25/100 for him in 2009. A bargain at 6.5M, considering. With Austin Jackson and Brett Gardner, the need for outfield prospects is not glaring enough to play fantasy baseball with your only outfielder who's not a complete give up in either the field or the batter's box. With Damon and Cabrera you've got one-sided players. The team as is looks like a winner to me. Swish is gonna be a great power bench bat and 4th outfielder. Leave it alone. Please.

Angel - A tale told by idiots, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing
February 12th, 2009 at 12:12 am
OK…so you’re saying that you want to be moved to the front of the line?

**********************************************************

Noooo, not at all. RandyI throw a zinger back at you much better than I can. And I think Ray would really miss it if he wasn’t teased mercilessly on here by us, haha.

Just meant that I was happy to be in such good company with the two ahead of me.

Good. It's best to tease those that give it back. Very few people (I don't consider trolls as people...of course, ragging the idiots has a soothing affect on me). You're a good target...just get a knife out and sharpen your tongue...or, in this case, your fingers.

If the Yanks make a move and trade either Swish or Nady, which I personally hope they don't, it should be for a player capable of leading off next season. Damon is gone after this year, and with his defensive problems I have a hard time believing he will be re-signed. That leaves a huge leadoff hole in the lineup next year, unless Gardner has a breakout season in CF in 2009. If they give up a solid player like Swish or Nady, they should fill a big hole coming in the not so distant future.
