Here’s an award-winning photo of Nick Swisher taking BP a few minutes ago.

He doesn’t know what number he’s getting yet. Hey, 6 might be available now.

Do teams carry right and left handed batting practice pitchers?

  2. m February 11th, 2009 at 10:37 am

Swish. Will he be the “glue” this season?

I don’t know why, but he seems destined to become a fan favorite.

I would think he would get one of these #’s 12,14,17,19 and maybe 6

To the dude who keeps mentioning Arod lied on national TV and lied to all of us his whole career, well, it hurts to keep reading about it, so we would rather talk about on the field actions.

Every time you post that I bum out, I prefer not to reflect on Arod, thanks.

David Robertson probably can’t stake a claim to 30, so Swisher could take that. Although he stunk it up wearing 30 last year in Chicago. Also, 35 is available now that the Moose has gone on to greener pastures.

    Hey Pete

Any way of finding out how Posada’s arm feels while he’s just warming up, or the day after he throws hard?

I’d expect he wouldn’t feel totally loose right away … does it take a little longer to loosen up?

i have high hopes for Swish.

rob ny: harold reynolds also picked burnett for the cy.

    Two things I read today.

One. Abreu to Angels. Great sign for them. They are too right handed and are poor in OBP. He helps both.

Two. Roberto Alomar having AIDS and forcing his girlfriend to have unprotected sex.

Does this hurt his HOF chances? What’s worse PED’s, or STD’s (with unprotected sex, otherwise, I’m sensitive to those who suffer with STD’s and am sympathetic to their health issues)?

  14. Ham Fighters February 11th, 2009 at 10:54 am

i read the article on alomar and although it says she is suing him for forcing her to have unprotected sex when he knew he had aids, the artcile didnt support that claim.

it comes down to the plaintiff saying he should have known he had it by the way i read it. and there was no use of the word force in the article either.

    im reserving judgement there.

    RobNY,

    From the other thread.

Injuries will be inevitable, but we’re much better equipped to deal with them. Aceves, Hughes, and hopefully Kennedy will be able to step up.

And we’ve always hit Boston well. And they can’t throw David Price at us 6 times, right? Right?

To all the Jets and New York fans. I hope you guys won’t crack too many jokes or jeers at Favre. I know it didn’t work out for you guys in that one year. But you have to appreciate his total body of work. When you look back it, he went through and overcame a lot of adversity.

I have 2 questions though. Is this it? And Why the hell couldn’t he have retired on Saturday afternoon?

  16. William Buckner February 11th, 2009 at 10:56 am

    Ham
When it comes to civil suits, I believe nothing regarding accusations, I wait until trial.

  17. Ham Fighters February 11th, 2009 at 10:59 am

m, i appreciated brett favre’s game a long time ago. but his hamlet act over the past 3 or 4 seasons has completly soured me on the man.

i dont care if he plays again or not. why does he have to hold the media hostage for weeks and months at a time over this crap. just keep your yap shut until around camp opening time then play or dont.

  18. Andrew February 11th, 2009 at 11:02 am

So if he retires and then un-retires, does that mean he can sign with the Vikings without the Jets losing all those extra draft picks?

  19. jboogz February 11th, 2009 at 11:02 am

Does anyone else think its a good idea for Alex to show up early in camp? Like the same day as pitchers and catchers. This way the media circus will be out of ammo by the time everyone else shows up and this in turn will take some of the flack away from the rest of the team. Just my opinion but getting out in front of this to make it easier on the rest of the guys is something Alex owes to the team.

  20. Russell NY February 11th, 2009 at 11:07 am

“Does anyone else think its a good idea for Alex to show up early in camp? ”

No because then he will have to do what Jeter said he wouldn’t – explain himself each day as new media keeps pouring in as we get closer to ST.

  21. Ham Fighters February 11th, 2009 at 11:12 am

ill bet every one of the guys in camp is hoping alex doesnt show up early.

  22. jboogz February 11th, 2009 at 11:21 am

I would think it would create a media crush the instant he steps foot on the tarmac at Tampa Int’l. You think anyone associated with sports reporting would miss out on a chance to question Arod? Although I agree with your opinion that the other guys not wanting him to show up early, it will be easier for them to hide when there are 40+ guys in camp. But if having to answer Q’s about A-rod is the worst part of your day, and you still get to play baseball and make more than the avg CEO, suck it up and deal with it.

  23. jimmy1138 February 11th, 2009 at 11:45 am

The Yankees should make ARod wear 25 (like Bonds, McGwire, Giambi) then Swisher could take 13…

  24. Brad February 11th, 2009 at 2:02 pm

It was posted 2 weeks ago that Brueney took #38 so Swisher could have #33.
